Activities at Herne Place Care Home

Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure are a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat is always be welcomed.

Sophie Glasgow

Activities Coordinator

My name is Sophie, I am the Activities Coordinator here at Herne Place Care Home. It is my duty to ensure all residents feel happy and content. I love my job because I enjoy seeing our residents smiling and having fun on a daily basis.

I enjoy getting to know all of our residents on a one-to-one basis and in a group setting. This allows me to get to know their hobbies and ambitions as individuals, and fulfil these with life enriching activities they appreciate and will benefit from.

The residents had a blast, singing and dancing along to the very talented Lyn Ashton.

Supervising the Maintenance Manager

Our resident, Alan, likes to do odd jobs and be kept busy.

Alan, helped our Maintenance Manager, Howard, to aerate the grass.

Pamper Days

Some of the ladies and gents have enjoyed having a pamper the last couple of days by having their nails manicured and polished and a nice foot massage followed by a glass of wine before lunch.

One of the gents said he felt like Royalty.

Cuddle Club

What a wonderful visit was had by the residents this week when they were visited by the cuddle club dogs.

The residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit from their furry friends and the dogs definitely enjoyed all the attention they received.

Children's visit for Harvest Festival

What a wonderful afternoon we have had today.

The residents had a visit from the pupils of Herne Primary School who gave a Harvest Festival service of poems and songs as well as bringing along their artwork to show to the residents.

It was a pleasure to have you all and look forward to your next visit.

Alzheimer's Awareness Month

Staff and residents at the home got stuck in to help raise funds by baking and decorating cakes for a bake sale in aid of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, which runs throughout September.

Alzheimer’s Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise awareness around dementia, to educate, encourage support of and demystify the condition. Globally, dementia is one of the biggest challenges we face, with nearly 50 million people living with dementia worldwide.
