To mark the celebration of the nation’s favourite biscuits, Sophie Betts, Deputy Manager and Samantha Bright, Home Services Advisor at Herne Place, delivered freshly baked cookies, made by the home;s two chefs, to Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable and all GP surgeries around the surrounding areas. Sophie and Sam received a warm welcome from all and were gratefully received during these unprecedented times.

Herne Place has celebrated the official opening of its marketing suite with a ribbon cutting ceremony, hosted by General Manager, Judith Knight.

Alongside Judith to mark the occasion, were Samantha Bright, the Home Services Advisor, and Administration Manager, Lucy Ball, who are now permanently based at the marketing suite, as well as Senior Marketing Executive, Katie Leeuwenburg, and Marketing Administrator, Laura Dalgleish.

Doors to the marketing suite are now open to the local community, showcasing the exquisite furnishings and contemporary decoration, fitted by Barchester’s expert interior designers.

The friendly team will be on hand to discuss care options, and services available, and visitors will get a taste of what life will be like at Herne Place.

When the home is complete later in 2020, it will provide high quality residential, dementia and respite care, as well as many new job opportunities within the community and surrounding areas. Herne Place will feature a café, private dining room, a choice of lounges, spa bathrooms, an in-house hair salon, and premier en-suite bedrooms, each of which is fitted with a smart TV.

Through focusing on life enrichment, Herne Place will offer a range of daily activities, enjoyable events and engagement with the local community, as well as providing a varied menu of nutritious home-cooked meals. Herne Place celebrated a major construction milestone recently with a topping out ceremony, where the final tile was laid on the roof of the home. The occasion marked the completion of the latest stage of the 66-bed care home, as it enters the final months of construction.

The new home has been built by McGoff Construction, and will provide residential and expert dementia care for the older people in Herne Bay and the wider community. The home is set to open its doors to residents for the first time in May 2020.

The luxury new home, located on Parkland Road in Eddington, will feature large dining areas with life-skills kitchens, relaxing lounges with terrace access, activities room with interactive, multi-sensory dementia facilities, a cinema room, en-suite bedrooms, spa bathrooms, an in house hair salon, and Wi-Fi available in all parts of the home.

Andy Williams, the Senior Property Development Manager at Barchester said, “The home is really coming together. The design of the home will not only allow our operational colleagues to provide the best level of care for the residents who live there, but also ensure the residents are able to live dignified lives in surroundings that allow them to be as independent as they choose to be.”

Barchester marked the start of its newest care home build, Herne Place in Herne Bay, Wells, which is under construction by McGoff Construction Ltd.

Mark Bennett, Property Development Director and Andy Williams, Senior Property Development Manager from Barchester Healthcare were joined by Carl Nolan, McGoffs Contract Manager, Drew Campbell, McGoffs Project Manager and Dean Carver Key Operative for McGoffs at the Barchester development, to mark the occasion of breaking ground for the first time at the new site.

After the tour, Mark said: "My colleagues and I were very impressed with work we saw at the latest Barchester site. The new care home will be an important facility for the district and a very welcome source of employment."

The 66-bed care home in Herne Bay will also provide high quality care services, as well as dedicated dementia care in Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Communities.

Mark continued: “We are very excited about the construction of our new care home in and I feel lucky that our prospective residents will have a home set in great looking grounds.

“There is a real need for quality care in the local area and our new home will definitely meet this, and potentially give a boost to employment in neighbouring communities.”

The new luxury home will provide 66 single en-suite bedrooms with shared lounges and separate dining areas, an activity space for the homes’ lifestyle enrichment programmes, as well as secure, landscaped gardens, providing, peaceful, beautiful outdoor spaces for the prospective residents.
