Activities at Hollyfields Care Home
Our Activities programme is formulated using resident requests and feedback from resident meetings. Residents are involved in planning the programme with things they they would like to do throughout the year. There is a mixture of activities that take place including both group and 1-1 engagement. Residents at Hollyfields particularly enjoy movement to music activities enabling them to increase their level of physical abilities and have fun at the same time, whilst others enjoy musical singalongs and food based activities throughout the week.
We have a mini bus that enables us to reconnect our residents with their community in ways that suite themselves as individuals. This can be achieved by visiting local farms, Georgian towns, local attractions and even the local public house for lunch with friends. Hollyfields have a great relationship with their local community and have visits from local organisations such as The Wyre Community Land Trust and are currently undertaking a 12 week funded project from Arts Etc. Residents at Hollyfields enjoy Pet Therapy visits from their pet rabbit 'Thumper' and like to help clean and feed him daily. Relatives can be encouraged to join us for activities and again are very supportive with delivering theme days and fundraising events within the home.
Kaylee White
Hi, my name is Kaylee and I joined the Hollyfields care team in February 2021. I love getting to know our residents and I'm extremely passionate about their continued wellbeing and life enrichment through tailored activities. I became part of the Activities team to develop more in this area and expand the type of fulfilling activities and events we provide.

Life at Hollyfields Care Home
Apple Picking
Residents at Hollyfields pick apples from their own orchard to make some apple juice.
Joined by Wyre Community Land Trust, a community group that visits annually for the apple-picking tradition at the home. Residents walked through the home's grounds with the care and activities team to the Hollyfield’s Orchard, where they picked their own fresh apples for their homemade apple juice brew, which they sold in 2 pint cartons at the home to raise money for charity.
After the apple picking, all of the participants returned to the home, where they crushed the apples for juicing, and chefs in the kitchen got busy baking the apples in a delicious apple pie, which was enjoyed by all.
Animal House
These are photographs taken from our animal visit at Hollyfields, when we enjoyed a visit from iguanas, chickens, baby rabbits and Guinea pigs. Residents were thrilled to see them and loved holding and petting them too.
Smoothie Time
Residents tucked into some of their favourite smoothies recently, enjoying some interesting combinations, such as banana & white chocolate, strawberry & kiwi and peach & melon.
Woodworking
Some residents at Hollyfields have been keeping themselves busy by helping Gavin, our Maintenance Manager, to stain wood in the garden and keeping a watchful eye to make sure the lengths were all the same.
Ukes on the Edge
Hollyfields were treated to a great afternoon by ukulele group, 'Ukes on the Edge'. Residents, staff and visitors sang along to the old classics – it was great fun!
Summer Continues
Staff and residents cooled down the calorific, but fun way. Fish and chips and delicious Mr. Whippy ice creams were served up to help cool us all down whilst listening to good old Cliff Richards' 'Summer Holiday'.
