Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Gunel Bayramova
Hello my name is Gunel and I joined Barchester team 2020 promoted to Activities Coordinator in November 2022
I love spending time with the residents and getting to know them on personal level, this helps me to support residents to participate and enjoy all the activities in the home. I am really enjoying my role as an Activities Co-Ordinator at Hugh Myddelton House and look forward to meeting you soon.

Life at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home
World Animal Day
Residents and team members at Hugh Myddelton House celebrated World Animal Day on 4th October, learning about different kinds of animals and their habitats with our special guests, Kelly & Tes, from Performing Pets. Residents were delighted having animal therapy too, cuddling the little bunnies – Elsie & Dimple – and holding the budgies.
We all had a brilliant time and we are looking for the next Performing Pets visit!
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Staff and residents at Hugh Myddelton House held a charity coffee morning and bake sale on 24th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Having a coffee morning is the perfect chance to catch up over a cuppa and a slice of something delicious for a great cause. The money raised helps everyone with cancer to live life as fully as they can. Residents enjoyed spending time with friends, relatives and members of the local community. Head chef, Christopher Abrigo, had baked lots of lovely cakes for everyone to sample and for guests to buy to take home.
Hugh Myddelton House’s coffee morning was a big success - we managed to raise £175 and, most importantly, everyone had a great time doing it!
Sunshine Garden Centre
Residents and team members from Hugh Myddelton were delighted to take a trip out to visit Sunshine Garden Centre in Bounds Green. Sunshine Garden Centre is a famous plant area, twice awarded the Best Plant Area in the UK, and has a spectacular range of houseplants. There was so much to see and choose from. We selected some beauties to add to our gardens and, after all that hard work, residents relaxed in the café and enjoyed a lovely cup of tea and a delicious piece of cake.
Balance Awareness Week
Residents and staff at Hugh Myddelton House took part in a variety of bespoke events throughout the week to increase awareness about vestibular disorders, including a Zumba exercise session with Sonia to strengthen muscles.
Out & About with Oomph!
Residents at Hugh Myddelton enjoyed a long-awaited minibus trip to Trent Country Park. Here they were delighted taking a walk through the park's lovely fields and woods, relaxing in the nature and enjoy the lovely views.
Trent Country Park lies in 413 acres of rolling meadows, enchanting brooks, exquisite lakes, ancient woodland and imposing historical sites. It forms part of London Green Belt and being a country part it provides a natural, rural and tranquil atmosphere right on the outskirts of London on the borders of Enfield.
Last Night of the Proms
Staff and residents at Hugh Myddelton were treated to a unique performance from the English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate the Last Night of the Proms.
Residents joined members of English National Ballet’s Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Music Director, Gavin Sutherland, to celebrate Last Night of the Proms. They listened and danced along as members of the orchestra took them on a magical, musical journey. English National Ballet Philharmonic is made up of many of the country’s top musicians, and boasts considerable experience in all forms of music-making.
With insights and anecdotes into what it takes to conduct an orchestra for a world-class ballet company, this special concert for Barchester care homes got everyone’s feet tapping, arms waving and hearts singing!
