Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

International Flower Day

Residents at Hugh Myddelton celebrated International Flower Day making some amazing arrangements and talking about their flowers in the home’s garden. The colourful flowers made residents happy and, at the end, they decorated our home with them.

World Religion Day

Residents and staff at Hugh Myddelton have been celebrating World Religion Day by learning about the six major world faiths – Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism and Buddhism – and found out the most important festivals and how they are celebrated. Also, residents talked about their own faith and why it is important to them.

Elvis' Birthday

Hugh Myddelton House was transformed into Graceland to mark what would have been Elvis Presley’s 86th birthday on 8th January.

To honour the undisputed King of Rock 'n' Roll, the residents and staff enjoyed a fantastic day of music, fun, dancing and arts & crafts.

Christmas Party

Hugh Myddelton House got in the Christmas spirit by organising a Christmas party for residents.

When the singer cancelled his performance 1 hour before the party started, we all come together to make our residents happy. The Christmas party was in full swing with fancy dress, festive foods, raffle and live music.

Residents enjoyed listening to Christmas songs by our lovely staff and were happy to join in.

Also, Hugh Myddelton House hosted a carol singing competition with songs of Christmas from different countries, and our residents were delighted to vote for the best performance. The home’s Head Chef, Chris, topped it up with a variety of homemade festive food.

Staff Receive Vaccination

Staff at Hugh Myddelton were delighted to be invited to have the vaccination at The Royal Free Hospital, which has lifted everyone’s spirits after what has been a very challenging year for everyone.

We’ve had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.
