Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Honouring our carers for National Carers Week
Hugh Myddelton House care home held a day of celebrations to thank care staff at the home, who make a real difference to the lives of those in their care.
Staff were treated to a party with delicious cakes and small gifts provided by Barchester. Thank you cards for everyone and a letter of thanks from the Managing Director was read out before all tucked in the sweet treats!
Staff also gave a call to family members who have been unable to visit due to lockdown, but whom also give so much support to their loved ones, and carers in the home.
Carers Week is an annual event to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges carers face, and recognising the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK, which now, is more important than ever. Carers have a vital job in the care of residents throughout the home, and form very special bonds with the people they look after. They are the day-to-day face of our home, working directly with residents and families to ensure the very best quality care and support is given.
Carla Sanders, General Manager said: “I am very proud of the carers at Hugh Myddelton House. In light of the current situation our carers have continued to work tirelessly to provide high quality, personalised care to the people living in our homes, and often go above and beyond the call of duty, which has a huge impact on people’s lives. They offer friendship and comfort to residents and their relatives, during what can be a very emotional time. We appreciate the work they do all year round, and especially in these unprecedented times”.
Thanking our care team
All the team at Hugh Myddelton are so grateful to the relatives of our residents and local community for their kind words in cards, letters and treats over recent weeks.
Deliveries of chocolates, cakes and flowers are very much appreciated and keeping us in good spirits. We look forward to welcoming visitors into the home again soon
Stretch out for Senior Health & Fitness Day!
Hugh Myddelton House got active for Senior Health and Fitness Day on the 27th May. Residents participated in a variety of bespoke events throughout the day that accommodated for a wide range of physical abilities including the exercise class.
Created to inspire senior-friendly physical activity, the national day was launched to increase awareness on health for the elderly, and to encourage diet and lifestyle changes for an overall improvement to wellbeing, and illness prevention.
General Manager, Carla Sanders said: “The health and wellbeing of residents at our home is important to us. Senior Health and Fitness Day is a great opportunity to try something a little bit different, so we have a day offering a range of different physical activities, curated specifically for elderly people where everyone could participate. We all had a lot of fun on the day, even some of our staff were put through their paces!
In light of the current situation we are making sure extra effort is focused on creating an enjoyable environment for all of our residents, guaranteeing that there’s plenty on offer for all tastes and abilities. Whilst ensuring that the group activities are smaller, adhering to social distancing advice.”
