Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home
Our very own Chelsea Flower Show!
We cannot visit The Chelsea Flower Show, so we decided to bring the flower show in our home. The residents were very happy, made some amazing arrangements and at the end they decorated our home with them. Ramona, our Deputy Manager was delighted with the arrangement the residents made for her - the colourful flowers made us all smile!
Kindness is key during Mental Health Awareness Week
Staff and residents at Hugh Myddelton House care centre in Enfield, showed support of Mental Health Awareness Week 2020, spreading some positivity and joy, as the theme this year was ‘Kindness’.
Throughout the week, Hugh Myddelton House residents and staff supported the initiative by cups of tea and virtual catch ups with family and friends using Skype and Facetime. Residents were also touched to receive messages and prayers from the local community who would under normal circumstances be visiting the home on a weekly basis.
Carla Sanders, General Manager at the home, said: “Ensuring residents feel engaged and connected within our local community, and with family and friends is extremely important to their mental health, especially in these unprecedented times. Residents are really enjoying video calls, chatting about daily life on our iPad is certainly something new for many residents, they love to see their family and friends in their own homes all over the world. Here at Hugh Myddelton House, we are continually adapting, and finding new ways to make sure every effort is focused on creating an enjoyable environment for all of our residents, adhering to social distancing advice.”
We are playing our part in the wider care sector and supporting the NHS where possible. We are currently still taking admissions into our care home for those that need care in the next 4 weeks, so please do give us a call on 020 8886 4099 if you are looking for care or need any further help.
Dominoes in the sunshine!
Its a lovely sunny afternoon and our residents enjoy getting into the garden - relaxing or enjoying a game. Gordon and Iuliana played an intense game of Dominoes, as you can see from the concentration on his face! The game crossed the table and it was a close competition right to the end.
More garden games are planned over coming days, sun hats and suntan cream at the ready, ice creams are certainly going to be enjoyed by all.
