Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Drinks with a Lake Side View
Hunters took residents out to enjoy an afternoon drink at a nearby lake side hotel. It is always wonderful to go out and about on the mini bus for a scenic drive and adding to that a pleasant drink whilst enjoying the beautiful lakeside view was perfect.
Here Comes the Sun!
Residents spent an enjoyable afternoon painting colourful sun catchers to hang in their bedroom windows and reflect the light. As ever there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere and plenty of conversation to complement the afternoon perfectly.
Cheese and Wine Afternoon
Residents at Hunters enjoyed a cheese and wine afternoon this week with piano entertainment provided by the ever popular Kieran Pocock. Kieran has a wide and varied repertoire ranging from classical to good old music hall sing a longs, where the residents know all of the words and can join in. The Dining Room is such a versatile space especially for larger events and gives Hunters the scope to safely bring together a larger number of residents and ensure that everyone who wants to join in with the fun can come along.
Community Garden Day for Memory Lane
Today at Hunters we held a gardening morning with the resident’s families and friends invited to take part giving Memory Lane courtyard garden a seasonal tidy up to get ready for new planting in the coming months. It was great to see people come together and take part after all of the restrictions we have been through. A big thank you to all who volunteered and so cheerfully gave their time to make a real improvement to the courtyard.
Core Strength
Residents had a great session with G Fitness. These classes are really beneficial offering a range of exercises suitable for all. Gfitness instructors are specially trained to work with those living with dementia and they focus on areas such as strength and balance.
Spick and Span
Behind the scenes here at Hunters we have a dedicated Housekeeping and Laundry Team. Zoe, Jerry, Monica, Callum and Mayuree all work together to keep the home spick and span and safe for everyone. In laundry there is an ingenious tagging system which makes each residents clothes discreetly identifiable with a tiny colour coded plastic button which saves endless time in identifying everyone’s clothes. Just as importantly are the lasting and supportive relationships all of our staff make with the residents here. Housekeeping staff find the time to go about their jobs making time for the residents with a friendly smile or word, helping wherever they can.
