Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home

Music Hall Memories

Residents from our Memory Lane community really enjoyed an old time music hall keyboard recital from musician Ray Dolphin. Everyone had a lovely afternoon reminiscing and joining in with all of their old favourites singing along and dancing.

Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Sophie Gillman who is employee of the month here at Hunters. Sophie works as a hostess and was nominated by the residents who said that she is always kind, considerate and helpful. Well done Sophie you are a very valued member of the team.

Harvest Festival

We celebrated our annual Harvest Festival with our parish priest the Reverend Jennifer McKenzie who attends the home monthly for a service. At this service some beautiful fresh produce was displayed along with a collection that had been made to donate to the local food bank. We all look forward to Jennifer visiting again in November for communion and then in December for our annual carol concert.

Booster Vaccinations at Hunters

A big thank you to all of our local health care professionals who visit Hunters and look after the needs of the residents and staff so well. Today it was time for everyone to have their annual flu jab along with their covid booster vaccination. The day went smoothly with everyone working together to ensure that the residents were seen promptly and with the minimum of disruption. We can all now rest easy in the knowledge that we have the necessary protection to keep us all going through the winter.

Happy 99th Birthday Dolly

Dolly was delighted to receive cards and presents from family and friends to celebrate her 99th Birthday.  As always fresh flowers or a gift are delivered to the residents at Hunters on their Birthday as a small gift from everyone in the home.

Hunters Attend Careers Convention

The Hunters’ team really enjoyed talking to students at the Kingshill and Deer Park Schools Careers Convention.  There are so many different career options at Barchester.  It was also lovely to meet some of our resident’s families who attended with their children.
