Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

A Trip to Greece

Hunters celebrated the food and culture of Greece as our monthly theme. The home was decked out in the blue and white colours of Greece. Our Head Chef Leo and his team prepared a delicious and authentic Greek menu for everyone to enjoy.  The menu included Calamari, Mediterranean Sea Bass and Moussaka, with Baklava and Greek Doughnuts to finish things off.

There was traditional Greek music throughout and after lunch the residents enjoyed a Greek quiz along with some fun facts about the fascinating and ancient history of the country.

Alzheimer's Society Cupcake Day

Hunters raise funds for a charity very close to the hearts of many of the residents and their families here at Hunters. Through the sale of cupcakes vital funds are raised for the Alzheimer’s Society. This year Tina from activities has been busy baking cupcakes to sell to the staff. Tina’s cupcakes were already legendary and it took no time at all for word to get out that they were on sale and even less time for them to sell out. Thank you to everyone who took part as the current total raised now stands at £175, amazing.

Happy Father’s Day, at Hunters we are lucky to have some really lovely gentlemen as Residents here and to show our appreciation we gave them all a small gift and a card to celebrate Father’s Day. With the International Football in full swing everyone was able to sit back and enjoy a game with a glass of beer.
