Activities at Hunters Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Ben Sandall
Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters. I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity. I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Life at Hunters Care Home
Woodland Trail
Residents so enjoy strolling around our Woodland Trail, it is flat and accessible to all. The team take every opportunity to take residents outside and with the change in the weather we can take full advantage of our glorious grounds. Hunters are planning to add some further interest to the trail, we will keep you all updated.
Magic Table Benefits Residents
Hunters has a Memory Lane Community for those living with dementia. The community has a range of resources designed to increase physical and social interactions. The magic table is always a popular activity, it is fun, but also has been proven to have a very positive effect on those living with dementia. The interactive light projected games offer sensory stimulation, relaxation and reminiscence. Barchester's Life Enrichment Program offers all residents a meaningful person centered range of group and individual activities and events.
Happy St Patrick's Day
Hunter's celebrated St Patrick's Day in style enjoying the Cheltenham Festival. Pom Poms were at the ready to cheer on the winning horses and there were prizes at stake, with a sweep stake for residents and staff. Decorations were made by residents who then sat down with some Guinness and Wine, along with St Patrick's Day themed cup cakes. It has been a really fun day for all.
Spring is in the Air
As the Spring bulbs are blooming residents took the opportunity to plant some summer bulbs in our gardens. We have planted some Freesias and Gladioli and look forward to these coming up over the next few months. We also took the opportunity to walk around the grounds in the sun and all said how lovely it was to feel the warmth and look forward to spending lots more time outside.
Hunters Welcome New Couple
Hunters are able to offer residents a range of rooms including suites for couples. Diana and Peter are the latest couple to become residents with us and they are really enjoying all the home has to offer, today actively participating in the Mindsong singing group. It is lovely to see them looking so relaxed and happy in their new home.
Duke of Edinburgh Volunteers keep Residents Connected
A group of residents are regularly speaking on Skype to two students from our local community who are taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award which is run for those aged 14-24.
The students are sharing what they have been learning to achieve their award, including how to use a compass and navigate with a map. They have said they have developed team building skills and made great friends. The residents very much enjoy listening to the stories and the Residents talk about their careers and hobbies.
