Activities at Hurstwood View Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Lisa Everson
I’m Lisa, Activities Coordinator here at Hurstwood View.
I’ve been working at Hurstwood View in varying departments since 2017, shortly after the birth of my second child. With a strong background in Marketing, events, and community engagement - Activities is a great fit for me! I love arranging events and making a difference to our residents’ day. I’ve never danced so much since working here, no day is ever the same, and we really do have so much fun!

Baking Biscuits
We got together and made some short bread biscuits for visitors and residents at Hurstwood View. We decorated them with icing when they were cooled down.
The Keys to Our Hearts
Brian Howard performed some classics on his keyboard; residents got up out of their seats to dance and really enjoyed his company.
Brian went around and spoke to residents individually and even offered to play any requests.
He stayed for a cup of tea afterwards and sang some silly songs, such as the hokey cokey, in addition to 'Happy Birthday' to a resident.
Blast from the Past
Su Burgoyne hit all the right notes when she came to play her piano and accordion for us recently. Residents were singing along to her tunes and some even called her performance "a blast from the past."
Open Day
On Saturday 27th January, we hosted an open day; we greeted lots of lovely people and had some nice cakes and nibbles made by the kitchen team. We were also blessed with Tom Fitzpatrick, who came to sing some lovely swing-era tunes for us – and some of the residents even got up to dance.
Christmas Jumper Day
We celebrated Christmas Jumper Day in December with a Christmas jumper competition. A local Primary school also came in to sing some Christmas carols for us and we shared drinks and biscuits with them.
