Care and facilities at Kernow House Care Home

Here at Kernow House we pride ourselves on offering person centred care to adults of working age or older who are living with the challenge of complex mental health conditions, many with physical health challenges too.

We specialise in 2 areas; caring for people living with Huntington's disease or advanced dementia who need specialist support to get the most out of life.

Trips out in the mini bus, local shopping, and community events are combined with a comprehensive in-house programme of events, activities and services including hairdressing, aromatherapy and chiropody, to keep life stimulating and interesting.

The nature of our facilities and service enables us to care for people who have sometimes found it difficult to settle elsewhere.

Huntington's Disease Care and Support

Millaton at Kernow House is a specialist care and support service for people living with Huntington’s Disease. With over 20 years’ experience in this field the Millaton team at Kernow House are well placed to understand and implement the unique care approach needed  for people to get the most from life.

Our dedicated team of specialists will work with you to draw up a personalised care plan to maximise independence and ensure life is as fulfilling as possible.

Kernow House offers a welcoming, comfortable environment where our residents and their families can truly feel at home in a place where their needs are understood. If you think we may be what you are looking for please pop in, give us a ring or drop us an email.

We are now using handheld digital technology called 'Enable' internally to develop, update and manage our care and life enrichment documentation for residents. We work with one of the UK’s major digital care home documentation providers and have a bespoke platform to manage documentation digitally which aligns with our wish to deliver the highest quality individual care and life enrichment. You will see our team members using hand-held devices as the care plans and life enrichment preferences will be accessed via the device on an App. This will mean that it may look like our teams are using their mobile telephones, rest assured this is not the case and all technology used in the home is there to support our residents and relatives. There are so many benefits in moving to using digital technology to care for our residents, and for the staff working at the home including improving communication and collaboration between teams, increasing accuracy of care intervention recording and becoming more environmentally friendly.
