Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home
Barchester's 25th Anniversary
We had lots of fun celebrating 25 years of Barchester Healthcare on Saturday 14th October. We got into the spirit of the celebrations with a Tie and Tiara Tea dance, live entertainment and an afternoon tea, of scones and cucumber sandwiches, which were enjoyed by residents, staff and visitors alike.
The residents, visitors and staff were presented with tiaras to wear to bring a bit of sparkle to the celebrations, and staff went all out, in their glitzy costumes.
General Manager at Kingfisher Lodge said: “This has been a huge amount of fun and our Tie and Tiara Tea Dance was a great way to bring people together in celebration. I want to thank everyone who helped make the day amazing.”
A resident at the home said: “It was really nice seeing everyone come together to celebrate such a landmark anniversary. The tea dance was so much fun and it was lovely watching residents and staff dancing and singing along with the entertainment.”
Cheese & Wine Afternoon
We had a great time at our monthly cheese and wine afternoon.
The residents and families came together, for a chat, and live entertainment, which was followed by a quiz or a game of bingo. Everyone is encouraged to come along and enjoy the afternoon.
One resident said ”this is one of my favourite days of the month, it’s a lovely afternoon and it’s nice to have fun and a couple of glasses of sherry”.
Our next wine and cheese afternoon is on Tuesday 7th November 2.30 pm, and anyone from the local community is welcome to come along and join in. Just give us a call and let us know that you would like to attend!
Kingfisher has a 'latte' fun!
Kingfisher Lodge held a charity coffee morning on 29th September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
It was a big success – we managed to raise just over £75.00 and, most importantly, everyone had a lot of fun doing it!
Christmas Comes Early
Residents at Kingfisher Lodge were transported to a Christmas wonderland when they visited Whitehall Garden Centre in Whitchurch.
It was a surprise visit for one of the residents – staff didn’t tell him where they were going!
The stunning displays of Christmas got Michael very excited, as it’s his favourite time of year. He also enjoyed talking to all the staff and asking them if they liked Christmas too.
They finished off their trip with a lovely cup of tea and a piece of cake.
Residents enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere, the beautiful decorations and the Christmas scene of Pinocchio. They hope to return many more times before Christmas.
Summer Fête
Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Kingfisher Lodge Care Centre in Saltford to enjoy a Summer Fête that was held in the home on 9th September.
Kingfisher Lodge hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including live entertainment by Andy Tee, a tombola, games and gift stalls, which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.
Staff at Kingfisher Lodge made everyone feel welcome and were delighted to see different generations having fun together. Visitors enjoyed plenty of refreshments, such as hot dogs, burgers and homemade cakes prepared by the staff, who were hard at work making sure that a great time was had by all – it really was a team effort!
Sports Day
Residents and staff at Kingfisher Lodge laced up their trainers and warmed-up for their annual sports day.
Staff and residents took to their marks in the egg and spoon race, wheelchair dash and skipping race as guests cheered on. The teams battled it out to be crowned sporting champions and were handed their gold medals before being treated to an ice lolly, a cup of tea and homemade bread pudding.
