Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Wrong Trousers Day

Residents, their relatives and staff all got involved in the spirit of 'Wrong Trousers Day' and dressed up in their pyjamas and most wackiest trousers for most of the day, it was lovely to see some relatives family join in too.

We supported the Wallace and Gromit Children’s Charity by donating £1 for the privilege of wearing our pyjama bottoms instead of our work uniform.

General Manager at Kingfisher Lodge care home, said: “This has been a huge amount of fun and sparked a lot of laughter from our residents”.

A Gentleman's Outing

Kingswood Heritage Museum was amazing and residents loved it. Every month, Kingfisher Lodge arranges a gentleman’s outing; most recently, instead of a trip to the pub for a quick pint, we thought we would visit the museum. It was a lovely surprise to find so many interesting thing to see..

Fun in the Garden

We had a great afternoon in the sun eating ice cream and having a sing along with Shannon.

Dementia Awareness Week

Kingfisher Lodge have been supporting Dementia Awareness week; we have a memory tree in our foyer and people have been sharing their special memories.

Phil Harper, Dementia Specialist at Barchester, met with residents' loved ones to give an awareness presentation. The feedback was great and many people were sorry that they could not attend. Phil has agreed to return and hold another session in June.

Deputy Manager, Katrina, held a small bake sale and raised £45 for the Alzheimer’s Society. Everyone particularly enjoyed the cherry cupcakes!
