Activities at Lanercost House Care Home
Our dedicated Activities Coordinators offer a wide range of mentally and physically stimulating activities for residents and families to enjoy. There are regular outings in the minibus to places of interest, such as local cafes, garden centres and parks, as well as visits from entertainers, musicians and singers - and also from PAT dogs. We host various events, such as themed days, cheese & wine evenings, in addition to offering one-to-one activity sessions, including pampering, games and puzzles. Our activities staff strive to ensure residents participate in any way they can with activities that reflect their capabilities and interests.
Emily Stubbs
I joined the Lanercost House family in June 2021 as a Care Assistant and then joined the activities team in May 2022.
I love bringing joy and fun to residents, relatives, and staff on a daily basis as well as planning and organising themed days, events, and celebrations.
I think the activities’ role is very important for Residents' well-being. Whether they like to keep active with armchair exercises, join in with our weekly quiz or hop in the minibus for a day out - there is something for everyone. I aim to ensure that each Resident's interests and hobbies are supported.
I am passionate about creative and sensory activities and I love to sing and dance together with Residents. I love my job!

Life at Lanercost House Care Home
Saying Goodbye
Staff and residents gathered to say a fond goodbye to RMN, Carmen Donnelly, who left us in April to further her career in nursing.
We are now rated 'Good'!
Our dedicated dementia unit, the Carlyle Suite, recently passed a Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall 'Good' rating after being praised for a responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service.
The CQC inspected us on the 22nd and 23rd January (the report was released on 18th April) and the reported stated that, 'relatives were very positive about the caring nature of staff and the quality of care people received.'
In celebration of the rating and to thank each member of the team for their contributions to the home, staff members were presented with a £100 gift voucher as a token of a appreciation.
Goodbye & Good Luck
This is us saying goodbye and good luck to another of our wonderful carers—Ashleigh Wright—who also left to go on maternity leave recently. We wish Ashleigh all the best for the safe arrival of her baby boy, and we are all going to miss her.
A Fond Farewell
We all said farewell to Cara Giovannini, one of our wonderful carers, who left to start maternity recently. Cara has been amazing throughout and only took one day off during her pregnancy. We all wish her and the little one the best and hope she enjoys every minute. We can’t wait to meet baby!
Pub Lunch
Katie and Lindsay, two of our amazing carers, dedicated their day off to taking out three residents for a pub lunch. As you can see, it was smiles all round, and everyone had a lovely time. We are proud to have such wonderful staff who take it upon themselves to do things like this in their own time.
60th Birthday Celebrations
Resident, Kaye, celebrated her 60th birthday with staff and loved ones at Lanercost. It was a lovely day!
