Activities at Lawton Manor Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Chloe Cameron
This is Chloe and she is our Activities Coordinator here at Lawton Manor. Her job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. She wants to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.
Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that Chloe holds very close to her heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them. A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Minibus as we create new, special memories together.

Life at Lawton Manor Care Home
Valentine's Day
In the name of Love, we served a delicious three course Valentine's Day Supper for residents. Love was the name of the game in the evening as we played games and held a Valentine's Day themed Pub style Quiz. Resident's loved their prizes, not to mention that certain favourite tipples including Baileys went down very well indeed too!
Happy 90th Birthday Peggy
We celebrated Peggy’s 90th birthday together with a delicious afternoon tea and a beautiful homemade chocolate orange flavoured sponge cake made by our hospitality team.
Peggy spent the morning opening her cards and presents with staff and resident friends. Peggy received a magnificent Fortnum and Mason hamper from her Son. Staff at the home presented Peggy with a beautiful bouquet created by florists "Flower Passion" in Alsager.
Peggy really enjoyed her very special day and was overwhelmed when her Son visited in the afternoon to present her with a "This is your Life" book and a rose plant.
Staff member aces Care Practitioner Course
Staff at Lawton Manor were delighted when colleague, Lydia completed her training to become a Care Practitioner, this new role which will enable her to support nurses in the home.
Lydia was presented with flowers at a celebration in the home to mark their achievement.
The Care Practitioner role has been introduced by Barchester Healthcare, the organisation that runs the home, in order to further develop talented care staff and enable them to give more support to the nurses working at the home.
Burns Night with a wee dram
We toasted the Bard whilst celebrating Burns Night over a tradtional delicious supper of Haggis Neeps and Tatties with a Whiskey Sauce followed by Cranachan with Scottish raspberries. The evening gathered pace with a friendly group to share some poetry and listen Scottish Music. We of course had night caps by way of a wee dram.
Residents enjoy a relaxing morning
The residents of Lawton Manor enjoyed a relaxing morning reading the papers and catching up with current affairs on their weekly newspaper review session. Home link with local school with pen-pal initiative
Lawton Manor Care Home in Church Lawton have teamed up with Alsager Highfields Primary School for a newly launched pen pal scheme, connecting residents within their homes with creative writing pupils.
Residents of Lawton Manor care home, which is run by Barchester Healthcare, have written replies to letters received from the student children of different ages at the School and have started to make new friends within the inter-generational scheme.
Letter writing, which is part of the school’s creative writing curriculum has covered many topics from Christmas plans, favourite local walks and pet animals. Some children wrote that they wanted to write to “Cheer you up” and “To put a smile on your face” and they certainly did that, for which we are very grateful!
