Activities at Lawton Manor Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Chloe Cameron

Activities Coordinator

This is Chloe and she is our Activities Coordinator here at Lawton Manor. Her job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. She wants to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that Chloe holds very close to her heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them. A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Minibus as we create new, special memories together.

Home link with local school with pen-pal initiative

Lawton Manor Care Home in Church Lawton have teamed up with Alsager Highfields Primary School for a newly launched pen pal scheme, connecting residents within their homes with creative writing pupils.

Residents of Lawton Manor care home, which is run by Barchester Healthcare, have written replies to letters received from the student children of different ages at the School and have started to make new friends within the inter-generational scheme.

Letter writing, which is part of the school’s creative writing curriculum has covered many topics from Christmas plans, favourite local walks and pet animals.  Some children wrote that they wanted to write to “Cheer you up” and “To put a smile on your face” and they certainly did that, for which we are very grateful!

Residents enjoyed a bake off day making mince pies and Christmas cakes.  The pastry was a lovely buttery shortcrust, the cake decorating was perfect and the treats were just delicious!

This is not just food....This is Lawton Manor Food!

Chef Nick has made and decorated our magnificent Christmas cake and topped it off with a towering Croquembouch!  We are delighted to be able to present this beautiful, elegant and no doubt delicious cake to our residents
