Activities at Lawton Manor Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Chloe Cameron
This is Chloe and she is our Activities Coordinator here at Lawton Manor. Her job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. She wants to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.
Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that Chloe holds very close to her heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them. A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Minibus as we create new, special memories together.

Life at Lawton Manor Care Home
Happy 95th Birthday to The Queen Elizabeth
We celebrated The Queen Elizabeth's 95th birthday with a toast and afternoon tea with table service. The selection of treats was not only fit for residents but for the Queen too! Chef made delicious homemade eclairs and scones
Incredible Ducks
We have thoroughly enjoyed in-house 'pet therapy' by hosting a hatchery of duck eggs for 10 days, welcoming 5 ducklings who hatched in their incubator at the home.
Residents have loved nurturing, feeding, watering and changing the duck's nest bedding
All the equipment was provided by the company "Incredible Eggs"
The chicks have now gone to their forever home in Mow Cop where they have acres of land and a huge pond to swim in
The Great Manor Bake Off
Residents designed, baked and decorated a beautiful Easter cake to enter into Barchester's Easter Cake Competition. Once the photos had been submitted to the judges the cake was cut and individual portions were shared amongst the master bakers.
British Sign Language lessons
Residents are enjoying participating in weekly lessons delivered by Activities Coordinator Sam and Carer Sami to learn the complete BSL programme.
Carer Sami is registered deaf and is leading the weekly lessons. We are thrilled to be learning this new skill set whilst having lot of fun each week as part of the daily Life Enrichment Program at Lawton Manor
The Clonter Opera delivers Afternoon Tea
We have always considered The Clonter Opera as great friends of Lawton Manor and they have remained so throughout this last year. We have once again received individual boxes of exquisite cakes. The delicious delivery of afternoon tea for residents was a wonderful gesture and we all enjoyed listening to recordings of "Songs from The Shows"
We look forward to such times when we can attend a concert at the Clonter once again
Families reconnect at Lawton Manor
For residents at Lawton Manor care home in Church Lawton nr Alsager, the long awaited reunion with one family member has become a reality, as one single named visitor is now allowed to visit each resident in their bedroom.
There has been much anticipation of this moment by families and residents alike. Guidance was issued by the Government on March 4 and Barchester Healthcare, who run Lawton Manor care home, is proceeding with a safe and cautious approach to visiting. Strict protocols are in place with all visitors required to have a negative Lateral Flow Device test result before being allowed into the home, and infection control measures and social distancing in place for every visit, with hand holding allowed but not recommended.
Despite the need for testing and social distancing, it was still welcome news for so many residents and their family members to be able to meet in the comfort of their bedroom. Residents and their relatives enjoyed getting together and catching up face to face.
