Activities at Lawton Rise Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Read our brochure 'Life-enriching activities' for more information about life in our care homes.

Life at Lawton Rise Care Home
National Nest box week
We were excited to take part in this year’s National Nestbox week – an initiative making more homes for Britain’s birds since 1997.
Our residents had fun making and learning how to decorate nest boxes. We then put up the nest boxes in our local area to promote the conversation of breeding birds and wildlife. Garden songbirds can struggle to find suitable nesting holes and cavities if there are a lack of mature trees in the area.
We all had a great time and can’t wait to see more birds in our garden.
Book Club
Residents of Lawton Rise recently enjoyed their inaugural book club, sharing stories and ready verse from their favourite books. Everyone was engrossed with the books and are looking forward to the next group session. What will we be reading next?
Valentine's celebrations
Happy Valentine’s Day. Our home was filled with flowers, cards, balloons and decorations as we celebrated the day of love in style with sweet treats and gifts.
We marked the day by staging a themed photoshoot and sending the lovely photos to families and friends.
Our residents had the opportunity to taste delicious themed sweet and savoury treats, prepared by our talented chef, whilst listening to all-time favourite love songs.
It was a lovely day and it was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get involved with the day’s festivities.
Valentine's inspired cookery demo
We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration. Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.
First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.
Lawton Rise trophy
This month we started a new monthly competition between units, Yew Tree, Juniper, Hawthorn and Willow.
January's competition was called Spaghetti Towers and there was a lot of fun and laughter and also collapsing Spaghetti as we celebrated World Spaghetti day. Everyone got involve, showed a little friendly competition to win the trophy for this month. What will be our challenge next month?
Reminiscence session
Today at Lawton rise, we played various board games, to promote social engagement. Residents really engaged and had fun at the same time. We also prompted communication, reminiscing using photo albums to promote interaction.
