Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.

Lynn Amiri

Activities Coordinator

My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.

Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.

The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.

I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Trip to Southend

We were thrilled to be joined by residents families on a day trip to Southend. We strolled along the seafront and enjoyed the fine weather. We ate ice-cream from the famous Rossi's ice cream parlour and admired the views across the sea with the longest pier in the world in the background. Finally we  enjoyed a traditional fish and chip lunch. We had a great time. At Leonard Lodge this is what we like to do - create memories for our residents and their families and ensure our residents are leading full enriched lives.

Walking Club

We made the most of the last sunny days of summer by going out for a walk. We battled uneven pavements and overgrown pathways but had a lovely time spotting butterflies and wildflowers and chatting to local residents while reminiscing about past summers.
At Leonard Lodge, we love going on our monthly walks, especially when families and friends join us. Shared experiences are the best experiences, and we ensure our residents remain connected with their loved ones whilst they live with us.

BGT Star Entertains Residents

We were treated to an afternoon of music and fun with Dennis Frere-Smith, musician, singer and comic as seen this year on BGT. Dennis played the trumpet and the ukulele as well as singing. Dennis encouraged audience participation by giving out instruments and handing round his microphone, asking residents to join in with the songs. Afterwards Dennis joined us for tea and cake and shared anecdotes from his time on BGT and his travels as a musician.

Violinist Caroline

We enjoyed an afternoon of classical and contemporary music ranging from the 1940s to the 1970s with the amazing violinist Caroline Jory. We loved seeing Caroline's artistry and joy during her performance. Caroline had us singing, clapping and dancing along to a wide range of songs and we can’t wait to invite her back again.

Summer Party

We had perfect weather for our summer party. We enjoyed a delicious buffet provided by our kitchen team including sandwiches, sausage rolls, spring rolls, crisps and cakes. We had great entertainment provided by singer Tracey Lea. Tracey sang a mixture of hits from the 1950s and 1960s as well as a medley of classic sing along songs finishing off with the okie cokie which we all joined in with. We all had a fantastic afternoon.

Summer Fete & Classic Car Show

After previously cancelling our car show due to the awful weather we decided to combine it with our summer fete and it proved to be a great decision.

Many thanks to South East Vintage & Classic Vehicle Club for their continued support. Also to our great stall holders: Carol, Sabrina, Kerry and her daughter, Michael and Iris, John and Angel, Remus Horse Sanctuary, and Mandy a trustee of SNAP.

Thank you to Deb and Joy for the great singing, and to Deb for staying on longer as we were having such a good time and to Joy, who had to leave to attend her own 40th birthday party! Thank you to Bennets for the loan of their ice cream cart and providing the ice cream.

Thank you to those who donated raffle prizes and to everyone who bought raffle tickets and attended on the day. We raised £214 for SNAP.

At Leonard Lodge we love hosting events that we can open up to our relatives, friends and the wider community. Life at Leonard Lodge is about being part of the local community and enjoying life long hobbies whilst also exploring new adventures.
