Activities at Longueville Court Care Home
Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.
The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.
The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.
Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

New Projects for Knit & Natter Group
The knit and natter group have started a new project; we are knitting for the RSPCA and the NICU baby units. Our ladies have been hard at work knitting away with a little sing song and some tea and cakes!
Swinging Songs with Stuart
Stuart Green - Entertainer back by popular demand...Today we had the pleasure of welcoming back the fantastic Stuart Green, who wowed us with his vocals. We had a nice sing-a-long and dance. We then enjoyed a nice cup of tea and homemade cake
Community Connections
We are so fortunate to have so many different friends, out in the local community. This morning we had our first visit of the year to the George Alcock Community Centre in Stanground, for the dementia friendly social group.
Although it was cold and icy outside, the welcome we received from the volunteers and other visitors was truly warming. It was delightful to meet up with our new friends. After getting a round of hot drinks, we joined in with the conversations and laughter! Today Cheryl had us doing word searches, a game of Guess Who and card bingo before the light lunches were served. After we'd eaten, we then had a wonderful sing-a-long, with musical instruments. I think everyone there had a lovely time and we were definitely kept busy!!
Getting Crafty Making Cards
We have been busy card making, as you can see our residents got very creative making cards for their loved ones birthdays, the cards looked amazing as you can see, after all their hard work the residents had a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake.
Donation Delights HELP Charity
During the Christmas festivities at Longueville Court our residents, staff and visitors had fun raising money for their local 'HELP' Community group based at South Grove Community Centre in the Woodston area of Peterborough.
Today, Activities Coordinator Karina Dunn had the pleasure of meeting the volunteer team to present the monies raised. On behalf of all those who bought raffle tickets and took part in the ‘Name the Ted’ competition we thank you for raising an amazing £200.00!
Whilst there Karina saw for herself the good work this charitable organisation and team of volunteers provides. With a warm and welcoming hall full of tables ready for ‘Brunch’ with fresh flower displays and napkins the Community Café was open for service.
The group offers a ‘safe’ place and nutritious meal every Monday to the homeless and those struggling with the pressures of living in today’s society, the elderly and alone who wish to make friends, meet others and combat loneliness.
On the menu today they had freshly prepared; Gammon and Eggs with Chips. The team of volunteers greeted every one personally with a smile. Food, clothing and other donations were shared before they sat together to eat. The room was alight with chatter and wellbeing.
Constantin Ulian, General Manager at Longueville Court said: “We love to fundraise for charities throughout the year, we pick different causes to support that have been selected by staff, residents and friends of the home. Being local to Orton Longueville the HELP community group are very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents. We feel really proud to have been able to raise this money and send enormous thanks to everyone who had fun with us at Christmas and donated.”
