Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Nursery Children Visit

Today we welcomed into our home the children from Orton Longueville playgroup, for a morning of chatter, arts and crafts and lots of laughter!

This is a connection our residents have really enjoyed with the children, we can't wait to see what these two generations get up to in the future!! Today they made bracelets and pictures to decorate our home.

Zero Discrimination Day

We all have different lifestyles and have a wealth of experiences and these maybe a mix of good or bad. Here at Longueville Court we have staff from totally different parts of the world. Today is zero discrimination day, so we decided that we would encourage our staff, residents and visitors to break the chains of discrimination and instead affirm the positive feelings, we have in our home!! So we decided to have "helping hands" and we went around the home asking everyone to draw around their hand and give a positive word. These were interlinked together to give a positive message to all! Plus we had a great time talking to each other and appreciating the time to think about how others may feel and how to make everyone smile.

Hidden Talent for Art

Today at Longueville Court we had the privilege of offering watercolour painting to some of our Memory Lane Residents. We discovered that one of our residents, Davina, used to paint on a regular basis. With a little bit of help and a craft tray, Davina once again took up a painting brush and let her imagination go, as she tried to paint a vase of sunflowers.

Her family and ourselves thought she did a great job. Well done Davina, we will continue to encourage you further, to make lots of masterpieces!
