Activities at The Manor Care Home
Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.
Marc Chidgey
I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.
I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Birthday Treat
As a birthday treat, staff and relatives accompanied a residents to a nearby stables to see the horses. She really enjoyed it!

Off for a Pint!
Residents and staff enjoyed a pint at The New Mill Pub on 14th September and are making the most of the nice weather while it lasts.
Harvest Festival
Residents and families participated in our Harvest Festival on 15th September and enjoyed learning about the festival's history whilst indulging in some coffee and cakes.
Resident, Suzi, said: “I enjoyed the Harvest Festival today; autumn is my favourite time of the year because there are so many different colours. It was another lovely morning at The Manor.”
Garden Party
On 9th September, The Manor had a garden party. There were staff dressed up in medieval clothes and lots of entertainment. Residents and our guests from Mencap were served cream tea and presented with a cheque from the Barchester Foundation.
Employee of the Month - August
Congratulations to Chloe, our fantastic Unit Care Coordinator! Chloe was nominated as our Employee of the Month for August due to her hard work, positivity, cheerful manner and for always having a smile on her face.
