Activities at The Manor Care Home
Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.
Marc Chidgey
I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.
I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

Dulcie turned 105 on International Women's Day
What a day we had during this week at The Manor!
It just so happened that International Women’s Day coincided with the very special Birthday of our incredible resident - Dulcie.
In these photos you can see our absolutely adored Dulcie and her daughter Barbara who herself is aged 76!
Dulcie reached the incredible milestone age of 105!
Dulcie didn’t want fuss, so the celebration was low key.
She received her second Telegram from the Queen which we will hang proudly next to her first and she enjoyed a quiet affair opening cards and presents, with cakes and flowers.
I asked her the secret of reaching such an incredible age…. She smiled and said: ‘I had a wonderful husband and daughter.’
Dulcie is a remarkable lady.
A trip to the hairdressers without leaving home!
A trip to the Salon can make the world of difference to how you feel.
Here at The Manor we have our own salon, along with our dedicated hairdresser Sarah.
Pictured, you can see Pam, our much loved resident, enjoying a lovely trip to the hairdressers, without having to leave home!
A well deserved review
Physio Can Be Fun!
At The Manor we have our own Physio based here 5 days a week: Ramis.
Ramis makes a huge difference to lives, his work includes rehabilitation and maintaining mobility.
He can also turn his hand to the traditional game of Quoits! As well as being fun, Quoits encourages movement, mentally stimulates and is great for exercise, not forgetting the healthy competition it creates!
As you can see in this photo, John and Edna were willing participants, encouraging each other to do well.
