Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.

Life Enrichment Lead

I have been part of The Manor Care Home since 2012, starting as a kitchen assistant, where I helped serve meals and ensure residents had drinks and snacks. While working in the kitchen, I discovered how much I enjoyed spending time with residents and seeing their engagement in activities. This passion led to an opportunity to join the activities team, where I could focus on what I love most - connecting with residents and supporting their wellbeing.

I take great joy in spending time with residents, hearing their stories, and discovering the activities they enjoy. My goal is to keep our residents active, engaged, and happy, with fun and laughter always at the heart of The Manor Care Home.

Playful Moments Together

Our residents had a wonderful time with the toddlers & parents from Debutots, enjoying stories, games, and lots of playful moments together. It was heart-warming to see the different generations connecting so naturally, with plenty of laughter shared by everyone in the room.

Visits like these always bring such a special atmosphere to our home and create meaningful moments for both our residents and the children alike.

A Taste of Luxury

Residents were recently treated to a special experience from Shaun our chef who served up wonderful scallops.

This delicious dish was enjoyed by all, with residents praising it as a real treat and something a little different.

Knitting Blankets for the RSPCA

Our residents have been enjoying some relaxing time at our knitting club this week, creating beautiful pieces while sharing stories.

From lifelong knitters to those picking it up again, it's been wonderful to see everyone come together and make some blankets for the RSPCA.

A Lovely Planting Moment

Eric, who is with us on a respite stay, recently spent some peaceful time plantings bulbs. A former farmer, Eric wanted to leave something behind for the other residents at The Manor to enjoy in the months ahead.

Activities like this help residents stay connected to the hobbies they love while creating something meaningful for others. We can't wait to see what Eric has planted.

Resident Celebrates Landmark 100th Birthday

Celebrations have been in full swing, as one of our residents reaches her centenary in style.

Edna was joined by staff and guests as she celebrated her birthday with a special birthday cake, she also received a telegram from the King in recognition of her landmark birthday. We are honoured to care for all of our residents and celebrating their birthday is always a pleasure. Happy 100th Birthday, Edna!

Acapella Visit

We were thrilled to welcome the Blackdown Acapella to our care home last Saturday.

Their visit went down an absolute storm bringing everyone together through the joy of music, and we can’t wait to enjoy another wonderful afternoon with them.

Supporting our Local Church

We were so pleased to be able to present a donation to our wonderful local Vicar Phil from St Peter and St Paul Church, Bishops Hull, following our Easter Raffle on Friday.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our residents, families, staff, and community, we were able to raise funds to give back and say a small thank you for all the support, time, and care they give to our home throughout the year.

A Taste of Somerset

Last week, residents enjoyed a lovely cheese tasting with traditional Cheddar Gorge cheese which is a traditional, hand-made cheddar matured in the caves of Cheddar Gorge, Somerset, using milk from grass-fed local cows.

It was a wonderful afternoon of sampling delicious traditional and popular cheeses with different crackers and chutneys.

The Perfect Afternoon tea

There's nothing quite like an afternoon of high tea and live music to bring everyone together.

Our residents recently enjoyed a relaxed and sociable afternoon, complete with freshly brewed tea, delicate sandwiches, savoury and sweet treats, and of course, scones with cream, jam and fresh strawberries. A truly perfect afternoon shared together!

Joyful Intergenerational Moments

We were delighted to welcome Debutots into our care home, where the sounds of children's laughter instantly filled the home with joy. Their visit brought a wonderful energy that was felt by residents and team members.

These sessions are a regular activity, creating meaningful connections with our residents and the children who visit, boosting wellbeing, gentle cognitive stimulation and sharing beautiful moments where generations come together.

A Visit from ZooLab

Our residents had a fantastic time welcoming ZooLab for a very special visit, where everyone had the chance to meet, hold, and learn all about some amazing reptiles and creatures!

From a fascinating scorpion to a giant snail, there was plenty of curiosity, laughter, and lots of brave moments as residents and staff got involved. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying something a little different and sharing such a fun experience together.

Celebrating Shirley's Birthday

We had the absolute joy of celebrating Shirley's 90th birthday at our care home recently. Surrounded by smiles, warm wishes, and plenty of cake, it was a truly lovely day filled with laughter and special moments. Reaching such a milestone is something incredibly meaningful, and we feel so privileged to be part of it.

Pancakes Galore

Our residents recently enjoyed a delicious Shrove Tuesday treat. With everyone's favourite toppings, everyone smiled as they enjoyed their pancakes.

Power of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy plays a vital role in supporting health, independence and confidence of our residents. Regular sessions help to improve mobility, strength and balance, while also reducing pain and the risk of falls.

Meet our on-site Physiotherapist, Ramis who truly believes that small steps can make a huge difference every day.

Snow White & the Seven Carers

We were delighted to bring a little pantomime magic into our home this week.

Swapping uniforms for costumes, our team put on a special fun performance, complete with panto humour, for our residents to enjoy.
