Activities at The Manor Care Home
Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.

Marc Chidgey
I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.
I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.
Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at The Manor Care Home

Paying Respects to the Fallen
This morning we spent some time thinking off the fantastic people that sacrificed so much to get us to where we are today. Our residents along with some help from Ellie, designed and painted a wonderful poppy collage and we handcrafted some extra poppies so we can all display messages on our wish tree to pay thanks to loved ones that sacrificed so much for us all.

Mickeys Pawsome Fundraising
Mickey has spent the month walking for Dementia and today Mickey paid us a visit whilst to put in some extra kilometres and even exerted some extra energy with chasing the feather duster. Mickey has done fantastic so far and is close to reaching his target.

Opening our new Willow Communty
The amazing team on our new dementia specialist community have all come together to celebrate and name the our Memory Lane community ‘Willow’.
A massive thank you to Dr William Chandler from French Weir Health Centre for opening Willow and their continued support for The Manor.
Also thank you to everyone who joined us on the day to celebrate the event.

National Apple Day
Did you know that Cider brewed in the South West of England has a higher alcoholic value than others brewed around the UK and here in Somerset we have a number of local cider producers.
Everyone enjoyed the afternoon and save to say there was no cheese or cider left.

Taunton Flower Show
We had such a wonderful time at the Taunton flower show. Our annual visit each year never fails to disappoint, the displays were absolutely beautiful and we got to see such an array of different flowers. Everyone that volunteers there are always so accommodating and we look forward to next year’s visit.

Tapas Afternoon
The sun was out in full beam here at the Manor, so what better way to taste the sun then by having a lovely tapas afternoon for all to enjoy. Residents all enjoyed trying little bits of everything! Clean plates all round.
