Activities at Marnel Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Sarah Yarney

Activities Coordinator

I have worked with the elderly for more than forty years in various roles, gaining varied knowledge and experience. I have been a relative at Marnel Lodge for ten years and worked as an admin assistant for a year and a half. I have now taken on the exciting role of Activities Coordinator at Marnel Lodge and I am looking forward to working with the residents, families and the Marnel team to start some new activities and adventures.

Christmas Cake

Christmas Cake

Folks at Marnel Lodge were spoiled for choice in terms of Christmas cakes; residents joined forces to bake one themselves (the one with the Christmas tree on it) and our Head Chef, Chris, also made one. They were delicious!

9 Years for Kerry

9 Years for Kerry

Kerry Thomas has worked for Barchester for 9 years. She is the longest serving member of staff at Marnel Lodge, and previously worked at Barchester's St Thomas before moving here. The residents decided that it would be nice to gift Kerry some chocolate for all her hard work.

Barchester's 25th Anniversary

Marnel Lodge celebrated Barchester's 25th Anniversary with a crazy hat day. The winner was May, with her lovely butterfly hat.

Memorial Service

Memorial Service

We held a Memorial Service here at Marnel Lodge and invited the families of residents who have passed away back for a short service. Families were asked to place hearts which contained the names of their loved ones on our light tree in honour of their memory.

Dress up day at Marnel Lodge

We recently had a wonderful day dressing up in 1940s and 50s outfits. Staff and residents switched their usual attire for clothes from the post World War 2 era. We also had a good old sing song on Memory Lane during the day with music from Tracey.
