Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home
Marriott Gets Moving
And we’re off, on ya bike!!!
We recently took part in Get Barchester Moving where we challeneged the team to get on the bike and cycle miles and miles to raise funds for the Barchester's charitable foundation.
Established in 2000, the foundation does invaluable work supporting older people and other adults living with disability or mental health problems by help to connect or re-connect with other in their local communities.
Carers Make Marriott House
Carers week is an important part of our life here at Marriott House.
Our General Manager got a chance to say thank you to each and every carer who forms part of our amazing team.
Our carers received a certificate of thanks and ample amounts of chocolate too!
Thank you to all of our carers.
It's all about Community
Today our wonderful Admin Assistant / Receptionist Clara popped into two local community hospitals to say thanks for the support they show Marriott House and all the hard work they do.
Bognor and Arundel Community Hospitals do amazing work with the safe discharge of patients into the community, whether that's to be permanently settled in their new forever homes or short stays for respite after receiving care.
The teams here do a fantastic job and work tirelessly to ensure our communities are well looked after.
We can't imagine the homemade cupcakes lasted too long!
Celebrating VE Day
Marriott House and Lodge marked the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a 1940’s afternoon tea party. The home was decorated in red, white and blue and residents and staff dressed up in their 1940s-inspired outfits and enjoyed an afternoon sing a long and refreshments.
Residents reminisced about their memories of VE Day and watched clips of the celebrations that took place outside Buckingham Palace and across London.
Marriott House and Lodge celebrated National Activity Providers & Professionals Week
Staff and residents at Marriott House and Lodge celebrated National Activity Providers & Professionals Week, which takes place from January 22-26. Residents and staff wanted to thank the wonderful activities team at the home, whose hard work and dedication make a real difference to the lives of the residents living there.
National Activity Providers & Professionals Week is an annual event to support activity professionals and thank them for all the many different varied activities they provide to residents and patients. The activities team at Marriott House and Lodge includes Abby, Kayleigh, Anna and Paige who offer unique, tailored activities and entertainment to the residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this everyone at the home is truly grateful.
Audrey, Resident Ambassador, commented: “We’ve all had such a lovely time today, it really is a joy to be able to thank our wonderful activities coordinators for all that they do. They really make such a difference each and every day.”
Barchester's Christmas Cake Competition - We Won!
Excitement was in the air when the talented residents have been named the winners of the annual Barchester Christmas Cake competition for the South Division.
Each year residents from Barchester’s care homes and hospitals up and down the country compete for the coveted Christmas Cake of the Year title. The competition is run by the central hospitality team and the bar is set very high. Many of Barchester’s residents are very skilled bakers and the Christmas cake designs can be very elaborate. Competition is fierce and only the very best recipes and designs will prevail.
The residents put their heads together and donned their aprons to come up with the most amazing Christmas cake decorated to perfection.
Nikki Culleton, General Manager said: “Our residents had such a brilliant time taking part in this competition, it has been such fun. Everyone here loves to bake and we all love cake so we were all very excited to take part. It has been a real collaborative process – refining the recipe and trying different versions of the design. We’ve all loved eating the previous versions until we came up with the perfect winning design! It really has been no hardship!”
Audrey, a resident at the home commented: “I’ve been baking my whole life, I find it so satisfying when a cake turns out well and everyone enjoys it. Christmas cakes have always been a favourite thing of mine to make so when I heard about the competition, I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! I am so proud that we have won, it has made my Christmas!”
