Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Christmas Lights & Fireworks

Christmas Lights & Fireworks

On Thursday 23rd November, we decided to hold her our own Christmas light switch on. Becki, our new General Manager, pressed the button at the same time as the city centre light switch on and then we enjoyed the fireworks. Mandy made some fabulous hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows! We also enjoyed some singing and dancing to Christmas songs!

Alive Activities

We were delighted to have the wonderful Alive Activities here from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday 23rd November!

This variety session included a quiz, singing, gentle exercises and some impromptu dancing from staff and residents and our special little helper for the day, Alfie!

Children in Need

Fundraising efforts raised over £55 to support disadvantaged children and young people right here in the UK by holding a day of events to support the 2017 appeal.

Staff and residents wore either their pyjamas or dressed as their favourite Disney characters for the day. The night staff wore Pudsey pyjamas for the night shift!  They all made a donation to the charity for wearing non-uniform during their shifts.

The afternoon included a special community bingo event, which was attended by residents and visitors. There was also a raffle to raise money that was drawn in the afternoon.

Armistice Day

In the lead up to Armistice Day, residents helped to decorate the home by making poppy wreaths. After the balloon release, they attended a musical reminiscence session, which looked at music and poetry related to Armistice Day.
