Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Tina Holmes
Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Life at Meadowbeck Care Home
Summer Fete
There was something for everyone to enjoy at our recent summer fete, from traditional summer fete games, including a tombola and raffle and a selection of stalls.
Residents welcomed their visitors who came along to join in with the summer celebrations. The home's chefs also prepared a delicious selection of home-made cakes for everyone to enjoy.
Tina Holmes, activities coordinator said "Our summer fête was a fun-filled day for both residents and visitors alike. There was laughter and smiles all around as everyone enjoyed taking part in the activities and making new friends”.
Cheese and Wine Taster
Residents welcomed their families and friends for a cheese and wine evening. Residents got to pick from a selection of cheeses – including stinky stilton and cheddar – to accompany their wine or tipple of choice. “Everyone enjoyed the cheese and wine event. Some of the resident even became wine and cheese connoisseurs. It’s safe to say only a few crumbs were left at the end of the event.”
Dean's Garden Centre
We spent an afternoon at Dean's Garden centre. Our ladies enjoyed spending time admiring all their favourite flowers. Visited the café before leaving the place, where they thoroughly enjoyed cake of their preference – Bakewell tart with ice-cream and frothy latte. There were smiles all around.
Open Day
We hosted a cream tea afternoon during our open day. Residents, loved ones and visitors to the home had a great afternoon; there was great entertainment, even better conversation and plenty of laughs & smiles.
Entertainment with Christie
Christie is a regular entertainer here at Meadowbeck. Residents and family members always like to join us for a good ol' singalong. It's always a fun afternoon with Christie, and we can't wait for her return!
Keeping Active
We made exercise fun during our most recent session. Residents at Meadowbeck always look forward to seeing Mark, who visits the home every 2 week and hosts sessions that are very popular.
