Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Life at Moors Manor Care Home

International Nurses' Day

Coinciding with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day, held on Wednesday 12th May, is a day to celebrate nurses and care staff around the world. Residents and staff at were happy to get involved by providing our Local Nurses with Afternoon Tea Boxes.

In 2021, the World Health Organisation is seeking to highlight the ways in which nurses are innovating and to explore what the future of nursing could look like. This year, more than ever, we are hugely indebted to all our care staff, and we are incredibly proud to applaud their extraordinary efforts and commitment, on this special day of recognition. International Nurses’ Day is a day to give thanks for the dedication of care givers everywhere, who go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver extraordinary care and support

Scones for All!

Here at Moors Manor, we like to treat our neighbours and friends to delicious freshly prepared scones by our talented chefs.

Our General Manager and Home Services Advisor have been visiting healthcare colleagues, putting smiles on their faces.

Sweet Treats

Our Head Chef baked up a sweet treat of brownies so that our General Manager, Chrissie, & Homes Services Advisor could get out and about amongst the local community of Ringwood to offer a surprise sweet treat to a few.

Easter Celebrations

Moors Manor staff and residents got ready for Easter by joining a virtual afternoon of chocolate-fuelled fun, along with the staff and residents at over seventy Barchester care homes across the south of England, Jersey and the Isle of Wight.

Our Head Chef has been extremely creative and entered a Barchester Easter Cake Competition.

Cards of Love

Moors Manor received a lovely visit from Mr Bagwell, Head Teacher and Mr Graves, Deputy Head Teacher delivering handmade cards and letters from children at Ferndown First School and Parley First school.

The children wrote 100 letters to care home residents in honour of Captain Sir Tom Moore, and their teachers rode over 100km whilst delivering them.

Miss Brown, from Parley First school has sewn, crocheted and knitted 100 hearts along with origami hearts from pupils at Ferndown First, which were delivered with the letters and cards.

We have all enjoyed reading the letters and beautiful cards at Moors Manor and were very impressed with the art work the children included.

Visiting Suite Now Open

As the temperature drops outside, we are so pleased to have our cosy visiting suite at Moors Manor.

Visitors have direct access from the car park and can join their loved one for tea and cake in a safe and secure way.

It is purpose-built with an intercom system so residents can clearly communicate and engage in conversation whilst being able to see their friends and family through a Perspex screen fitted for safety.

As a luxury new build home our occupancy will steadily grow, meaning our capacity of residents allow daily visits for loved residents, we have no rules about nominated person in our visiting suite so our residents can enjoy seeing all of their family and friends any day of the week.
