Activities at Moreton Hill Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
Jackie Chillingworth
Hello. I am Jackie, the Lead Activity Co-Ordinator at Moreton Hill. I have worked for Barchester for over 10 years. Now, together with my team and the staff at our beautiful home, our aim is to help all residents live life to the best they can by bringing meaningful and enriching activities into their lives.

Life at Moreton Hill Care Home
Sunset at Moreton Hill
The sunsets we see from many of the bedrooms and outdoor spaces here at Moreton Hill are spectacular and must be up there with the best in the county.
Watching the sun go down over the River Severn and the Forest of Dean is a wonderful way to relax and feel the peace and tranquillity of our wonderful home at the end of the day. .
Green Fingers
We are lucky enough to have a beautiful courtyard and plenty of outdoor space. Any of our residents or staff members can get involved in the running of the garden.
Here is Eddie, our Head Gardener, with Joan, planting out one of our tubs with herbs and sensory plants. In this one, we have put mint, coriander, purple sage and lemon balm, which are all beautiful smelling herbs to be enjoyed by everyone and for our chef to use in the kitchen.
Harvest Festival
We had our own Harvest Festival here at Moreton Hill with poetry, songs, praise and prayer, and everyone in the home was invited to join in.
We picked as much produce as we could from our gardens – plums, blackberries, elderberries, apples and fresh herbs, and staff and friends donated jams, corn, beans and tomatoes.
Our residents helped to choose the hymns and prayers and our creative writing group, led by Moira, our Resident Ambassador, wrote a beautiful harvest poem, which she read out at the service.
Flower Power
We have been busy planting out pots and our old later trough with brightly coloured bedding plants for everyone to enjoy when they take time out in our beautiful courtyard. Our next project is to plant up a herb garden and some more bee friendly plants.
Fish & Chip Friday
This is a meal that everyone looks forward to on a Friday. The chefs at Moreton Hill make a wonderful meal for all to enjoy and it helps make up for the fact that this year, we have been unable to do our trips to the seaside or even to our local fish and chip shop!
Fun & Exercise
With the hot summer weather, keeping everyone cool and relaxed is important. Yoga and meditation are a great way to achieve a sense of well-being and calm. Everyone taking part is encouraged to learn a few simple exercises to help keep body and soul in good shape.
