Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home

The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.

Home create Harvest display

Residents and staff at Mulberry Court had a lot of fun as they worked together to create the homes fabulous Harvest Festival display.    Some expressed concern that it may be mistaken for a Halloween display and management refused to comment.  General Manager, Steve Edgar and Deputy Manager, Fiona Christie were the models for the scarecrows!

The home will be generously donating their food collection to the homes local food bank to benefit those who need it especially during the current pandemic.

Birthday surprise for Resident

Resident, Ken celebrated his birthday with a garden visit from his daughter where he was surprised by the team with a delicious home-made birthday cake and a rousing rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’

Ken was delighted with the gesture and it brought tears of happiness to his daughter.  Happy Birthday Ken!

Crowning glory!

Mulberry Court resident, Betty showcasing her creative side after watching the homes hostesses set the dining tables with napkin crowns, Betty took to trying her hand a creating the napkin crowns herself, didn’t she do fabulous!

Parachute fun

When we first told our wonderful  residents that today activity would involve a parachute, some were initially concerned and reluctant to take part.

Once we explained that on this action nobody would be expected to jump out of an aeroplane, then they were queuing up to find out what it was all about.

Steve Edgar, General manager  said it was a lovely sight to see a group of residents taking part, laughing and having fun togeather in the sunshine and in our beautifull garden.

Residents enjoy quiz and dot to dot

Betty and Joan had fun taking part in the general knowledge quiz and dot to dot in our café area.

Steve Edgar, General manager, said. The calm appearance of this photograph does not do justice.  Joan won the quiz and both enjoyed the dot to dot and both earned the the relaxing cup of tea with biscuits.

Family visit brings joy

Despite the clouds and the rain Geoff’s day was brightened by a visit from his son and grandson.

Steve Edgar the General Manager said  Geoff’s smile and the expression  on his face when he saw his grandson shone brighter than the sun that day, and the Barchester umbrella certainly helped.

Geoff will no doubt respond to Steve’s comment with his dry sense of humour.
