Activities at Mulberry Court Care Home
The team at Mulberry Court works hard to support and encourage residents to participate in both group and individual activities, based around their preferences and lifestyle choices. We take time to get to know each person, sitting with them and listening to them speak about their lives, interests, and aspirations. We have access to our own minibus so outings to nearby places of interest are available; for example local museums, art galleries, garden centres, and public houses. We also host themed evenings, such as 'Quiz and Meal-in-a-Basket', 'The Races (Greyhounds, Horses)', and 'Takeaway and Movie Night' that we also encourage relatives to come to. We believe lifestyle choices and activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, and it is essential that we help residents to have fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
Zoe Giles
Hi my name is Zoe I am the lead activities co-ordinator here at Mulberry Court, I started in January 2024 having previously worked at another care home on reception, however I started doing more and more activities with the resident’s there so when I got the chance to move across to a Barchester home and do the role of lead I took the opportunity.
I have always enjoyed organising and am usually the one in the family who brings everyone together and sorts things so I feel I have found my true calling!
I am so lucky to be able to say I love my job, no two days are ever the same, although every day is so rewarding and to know I have made a difference to someone is the greatest feeling whether that’s through a group activity or an individual room visit to even stopping and saying a few words to them.

Life at Mulberry Court Care Home
Birthday celebrations
Resident June Enticknap was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for her 90th Birthday. June had a lovely day spending time with her family and a big Happy Birthday from all of us here at Mulberry Court. June said “I’ve had such a lovely day, made to feel very special!”
Residents enjoy safari trip
Here at Mulberry Court in York we were pleased to be able to dive into the wild safari life of Knowsley Safari and to enjoy an amazing live stream tour of the park’s grounds.
Our residents were smiling and laughing as they got up close and personal with some of the safari’s most popular animals, including giraffes and meerkats.
We had a wonderful time learning more about the animals and enjoying some live feeding demonstrations.
Blooming at Mulberry Court
Here at Mulberry Court, we were delighted to spend time creating a beautiful floral masterpiece to enter the #BloomingBarchester competition in partnership with Blooming Haus following their amazing virtual flower arranging masterclass.
We all had a wonderful time decorating and working on our arrangement and we are happy to say we were impressed with our skills in applying all the tips and ideas learnt during the class to make a colourful floral design.
Residents enjoy the sunshine
Residents took advantage of the recent warm sunshine and enjoyed a wander around the garden looking at the plants and all the discussing the names of the various plants and all the different colours, residents also enjoy filling up the bird feeder with water and bird seeds they like to watch from around the grounds.
Flower arranging club
Residents at Mulberry Court enjoy their “Friday friendship flower arranging” group and take delight in choosing from all the colourful flowers to create their floral vase displays before sitting back to enjoy a refreshing coffee and slice of home-made cake in the bistro. The floral displays sit proudly throughout the home for all to see as they pass.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Mulberry court care home care home in York were treated to an armchair work out courtesy of the Green Goddess, Diana Moran, and Shackleton’s furniture company, followed by a mindfulness session led by Shackleton’s Emma Raybould.
