Activities at Newington Court Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator here at Newington Court constantly strives to mentally and physically stimulate those we support in our home. We have our own minibus enabling residents to go shopping, to the local garden centre, out for fish and chips, and for boat trips in the summer. We also have regular visits from the PAT dog, musicians and entertainers. We hold cheese and wine evenings for residents and their families and our residents attend services at the local school for Remembrance Day and Christmas. The junior school also come in and sing for our residents at Christmas. The residents also attended a Christmas Party held at a local Grammar School hosted by the students.

Life at Newington Court Care Home
Salvation Army Carol Concert
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful Carol Concert when the Salvation Army visited us this week. They sang all of our favourite Carols and we thoroughly enjoyed being able to join in. It was especially nostalgic for one of our residents who had been a member of the Salvation Army herself for 20 years!
Christmas Wreath Making
Our residents had great fun this week making Christmas wreaths. The residents are all so creative and really enjoy the Arts and Crafts activities that we hold every week. The wreaths have been added to the wonderful decorations that are all around the home for our residents and visitors to enjoy during the Festive Period.
Baking Club
Some of our Residents’ spent the morning baking today at the Baking Club! This week it was Biscoff Cupcakes. The Baking Club, which is held every week, is always a popular pastime with our residents, ably assisted by our Activities Coordinators.
The rest of the residents enjoyed eating them with their afternoon tea.
Sensory Garden art
Some of our residents have been painting garden sensory ornaments as part of our new Sensory Garden with the help of our Activities coordinator Tracey. We experience the world through our senses and the new garden will be a great addition to our dementia friendly activities.
A trip to St. Mary's church
We recently too a trip to St. Mary's church in Newington. We were invited to a coffee morning which was very lovely. The ladies made us so welcome. We had a walk around the church where there are wonderful stained glass windows and then outside to the church yard.
Another great Boat Trip
Our second boat trip of the year! The residents enjoyed the cruise along the river. Going through the lock was interesting! Our Activities Lead, Jo, got to steer the boat!
