Activities at Newington Court Care Home

Our Activities Coordinator here at Newington Court constantly strives to mentally and physically stimulate those we support in our home. We have our own minibus enabling residents to go shopping, to the local garden centre, out for fish and chips, and for boat trips in the summer. We also have regular visits from the PAT dog, musicians and entertainers. We hold cheese and wine evenings for residents and their families and our residents attend services at the local school for Remembrance Day and Christmas. The junior school also come in and sing for our residents at Christmas. The residents also attended a Christmas Party held at a local Grammar School hosted by the students.

Jo English

Activities Coordinator

I joined Newington Court in September 2021. After working as a Carer in September 2022 I became the Lead Activities Co-coordinator. It is a pleasure to care for our residents and make sure that their needs are met to the highest standards. Every day is different but it is a very rewarding job and gives a great sense of satisfaction. I am looking forward to ensuring that our residents are getting an enriched lifestyle and by getting to know them on a one-to-one basis making sure that we cater to everyone’s needs and interests.

A trip to St. Mary's church

We recently too a trip to St. Mary's church in Newington. We were invited to a coffee morning which was very lovely. The ladies made us so welcome. We had a walk around the church where there are wonderful stained glass windows and then outside to the church yard.

Another great Boat Trip

Our second boat trip of the year! The residents enjoyed the cruise along the river. Going through the lock was interesting! Our Activities Lead, Jo, got to steer the boat!

Armchair Exercise

Our residents have been exercising with the giant parachute! Lots of laughter, good for gentle movement and lots of fun!

Live Entertainment in the Garden

An enjoyable afternoon joining in with the singing in the garden.  We had the wonderful Liam singing for us. We love making use of our wonderful gardens and patio area.  Happy Summer days.

Pub Lunch

Some of our residents enjoyed a nice lunch at a local pub. As the weather was warm they enjoyed their lunch in the beer garden.  Our residents always enjoy an outing, travelling in our minibus and enjoying the company of the local community.

Boat Trip

Our first Boat Trip of the year! Lovely time cruising on the River with The Kingfisher Medway Trust. Our Residents enjoyed the trip and had a picnic lunch. Lots of wildlife and magnificent views. Our Senior Carer, Ray, even got to steer the boat!
