Activities at Newington Court Care Home
Our Activities Coordinator here at Newington Court constantly strives to mentally and physically stimulate those we support in our home. We have our own minibus enabling residents to go shopping, to the local garden centre, out for fish and chips, and for boat trips in the summer. We also have regular visits from the PAT dog, musicians and entertainers. We hold cheese and wine evenings for residents and their families and our residents attend services at the local school for Remembrance Day and Christmas. The junior school also come in and sing for our residents at Christmas. The residents also attended a Christmas Party held at a local Grammar School hosted by the students.

Life at Newington Court Care Home
Musical Entertainment
We have been enjoying musical entertainment with Mike Akhurst who sang for us whilst playing his guitar. We sang along and danced the afternoon away!
Getting Creative
We have been learning about jewellery findings; lobster clasps, jump rings and double ended connectors. We had a go at making friendship bracelets; it was a little tricky at first, but we managed it with a little help from our lovely activities coordinator.
The Newington Olympics
We have been taking part in Newington Court’s own Olympics! We had an opening ceremony with the Olympic torch, played basketball, badminton and table tennis. The staff even had a mini tournament. We had a great time.
Cheese, Wine & Jazz
We have been learning where certain cheeses are manufactured and which wine to pair them with. Of course, we had to sample both whilst listening to some classical jazz music. Some of us even got up for a dance!
Summer Sunshine
We have been enjoying the garden in the beautiful summers sunshine. We have pointed out the salvias, lobelias and are awaiting in anticipation for the sunflowers. We are, however, puzzled by this stunning flower, do you know what this is called?
Ladies Royal Ascot Day
Our ladies have enjoyed a morning of making their own fascinators for Ladies Royal Ascot Day, which was followed by a relaxing pampering afternoon of hair, nails and make up, whilst enjoying watching the racing.
