Activities at North Park Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Claire Liddy

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Claire, and I am Lead Activities Coordinator at North Park. I have 15 years’ experience in the role, three years at North Park and absolutely love my job. I like to involve the local community in events within the home, so we have connections with local churches, schools and community groups. We have a PAT dog that visits weekly, so our residents can enjoy pet therapy, and lots of external entertainers, who come into the home regularly as well; in addition to fairs, monthly coffee morning and so much more.

Valentine's celebrations

At North Park we celebrated Valentine’s Day with scrumptious food throughout the day, chocolate, wine, roses and time for our couples to relax and share each other’s company with tempting treats and gifts. At North Park no one is ever left out and all residents received a token of love, chocolate flavour of course!

Valentine's inspired cookery demo

We had a lovely time joining Chef Alex Connell from Vegetarian for Life for a Valentine’s-inspired virtual cookery demonstration.  Chef Alex created some delicious Valentine’s Day-inspired vegetarian desserts, which our residents had the opportunity to try too.

First, our residents sampled a wonderful sticky toffee pudding, which was absolutely heavenly. Then they tried hazelnut truffles which were a huge hit and finally they were treated to a chocolate orange cake which everyone adored.

International Flower Day

To mark International Flower Day residents at North Park turned their hands to flower arranging. In small groups residents trimmed the flowers, picked their favourite flower combinations, some choosing scents over colours, others going for the brightest colours they could find and made posies for their rooms and to decorate the corridors and lounges.

While diligently working on their creations conversations turned to their favourite flowers, the bouquets they receive from loved ones and the thought they always put into choosing flower gifts for their friends, families and spouses over the years.

One resident recalled how he always took a small bunch of seasonal flowers home to his wife every  Friday ‘pay day’ as he called it, to show her he thought about her and appreciated her while he was out at work. Lovely memories shared by all.

Christmas party

What an amazing afternoon and evening we have had at North Park for our residents Christmas party.  Staff pulled out all the stops to provide fun, laughter and frivolity throughout as well as a delicious festive buffet and nibbles.

Gift received from Morrisons

North Park Care Centre would like to say thank you to Morrisons  for the beautiful hamper for staff and the cards and gifts for residents. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Birthday celebrations

One of our lovely residents became a little emotional this afternoon when we stopped our quiz and presented her with a beautiful birthday cake as we celebrated her birthday.  Happy birthday from all at North Park!
