Activities at North Park Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Claire Liddy

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Claire, and I am Lead Activities Coordinator at North Park. I have 15 years’ experience in the role, three years at North Park and absolutely love my job. I like to involve the local community in events within the home, so we have connections with local churches, schools and community groups. We have a PAT dog that visits weekly, so our residents can enjoy pet therapy, and lots of external entertainers, who come into the home regularly as well; in addition to fairs, monthly coffee morning and so much more.

Life at North Park Care Home

Crystal Palace Chronicles

We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.

Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.

Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure. A great time was had by all.

Parachute fun

Movement plays a significant part in an individual’s physical and mental well-being, here at North Park we enjoy fun and laughter as we utilise parachutes, balls, beanbags and an array of media to keep residents fit and healthy.

A taste of Asia

Our amazing staff laid on a food festival ‘ A Taste of Asia’ providing authentic dishes from their countries for residents, colleagues, families and the wider community to sample and enjoy.   The event was a great success with visitors commenting on how delicious the dishes were with one of our residents stating” this food tastes amazing, when are you all doing it again?”

Home present cheque to local charity

We were honoured to be able to present a cheque to Veterans Woodcraft for £15000 on behalf of Barchester’s Charitable Foundation as part of the Jeanette Gill Special Awards.  Veterans Woodcraft is a charity set up by veterans in 2017 to help ex-service personnel battling against suicide,  PTSD, mental health issues and physical disabilities caused by their military service.

The cheque was presented to Jeremy Williamson the charities Business Development Director and Phil Bramhall their Operations Manager by veteran resident Neil Baird and Senior General Manager Lisa Frame. Before enjoying refreshments and chatting to our residents about their work and life here at North Park.

Mocktail fun

Residents at North Park always enjoy a social gathering where fun and laughter is the order of the day/night. Our Barchie Bear  Cocktail Evening was great fun for all who attended, in fact so much fun we have had to schedule another one very soon.

Home receive generous gift

North Park Care Centre were delighted when Tony gifted 5 Precious Petzzz for our Memory Lane residents to enjoy.  At North Park we are fully aware of the benefits these animals bring to our residents such as comfort, companionship and joy.

Residents have named the dogs which are already being cuddled, groomed and played with by not only residents but staff too.  Thank you Tony for your generosity and continued support
