Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Gardening Week

We went to visit Ness Gardens at the beginning of National Gardening Week for inspiration. We had lunch there and chatted about colour schemes for this year’s garden, settling on red, white and blue, in honour of all the special royal events happening this year.

The very next day, we planted geraniums, blue petunias and small white, trailing flowers.

To round off the week, we did a spot of weeding in our raised bed garden, which is so easy to reach from a wheelchair.

Easter Concert

Easter Concert

The Oak Grange Choir performed a medley of 1950s hits at our concert on Easter Monday.

The Choir comprises residents of all communities, loved ones and staff members. We practice every Monday afternoon and, so far, have held Easter, summer holiday, Harvest Festival, Remembrance and Christmas concerts.

We've performed on stage in the Chester Cathedral and have toured our own home, performing for residents and bringing joy to those who are less mobile than others.

Our choir brings so much joy to everyone and we love singing. Many thanks to our Choir Director, Susan, who has trained us to sing so well.

March at Oak Grange

Throughout March, we hosted a St David's Day celebration with afternoon tea and Welsh cakes, a quiz and a singalong to a number of Welsh songs.

Stephanie brought in her pet therapy dog, Mindy, and the two were warmly welcomed by everyone at the home.

We went on a trip to the Lady Lever Art Gallery to see learn about fashion and art in the 1950s.

The Year of the Dog

The Year of the Dog

It's the year of the dog, according to the Chinese calendar, so we celebrated with a few canine companions at our monthly coffee morning in the bistro.

An Afternoon of Joy

An Afternoon of Joy

We were joined by the very talented, Derek & Linda Herbert, who performed as George Formby. They told his life story, sang all his favourite songs and rose for any Lancashire ladies.

Lady Lever Art Galler

Lady Lever Art Galler

We visited the Lady Lever Art Gallery to see their special exhibition of glamour in the 1950s. Residents said that it was so reminiscent of clothes they had worn back in the day.
