Activities at Ochil Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Ochil Care Home
Virtual Book Club
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Mark Piesing for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘N-4 Down: The Hunt for The Arctic Airship Italia’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fascinating story of the world-famous exploring airship Italia, returning from the North Pole on May 24, 1928. The airship was struck by a terrible storm and crashed somewhere over the Arctic ice, triggering the largest polar rescue mission in history.
The virtual book club experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Royal Parks London
Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Donkey Sanctuary
Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester. Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care. They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Halloween Bake Sale
We decided to do a Halloween themed bake sale to raise funds for our activity’s. Our Halloween themed bake sale went so well today, we raised an amazing £148 which will go towards the residents activity fund.
Thank you very much to everyone who baked and everyone who bought the cakes they went down a treat. We also raffled off our giant chocolate sponge cake so well done to one of our nurses Kathleen who won the cake!
Birthday celebrations
One of our residents Betty celebrated her 98th birthday this week, we hope you enjoyed your day and your birthday party in the afternoon Betty.
Residents around the home came together to celebrate Betty’s birthday with her and make it extra special. We all had a fun afternoon with lots of cake and music. It was a great afternoon for everybody
Walk round to the local cafe
Nancy and Isa got wrapped up and we headed round to Olivio’s for a lovely lunch followed by a cup of tea and some red velvet cake. It was so nice for the ladies to get out for some lunch and have a good laugh altogether and luckily the weather was on our side so we were able to take a nice autumn walk round and get the fresh air.
