Activities at Ochil Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Halloween Party Success

Ochil Care Home celebrated an incredible Halloween party! It was a day full of fun, bringing together residents, relatives, nursery children, and community members. The air was buzzing with spooky decorations, festive costumes, and lots of laughter. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mel from Scotland Rocks, Poundland St Catherine’s Retail Park Perth, Asda, Tesco South Street Perth, and MUST EAT Fish & Chips Glengarry Road for their generous donations. These contributions helped make our event a spectacular success.

Everyone had a blast carving pumpkins, playing games, and enjoying delicious treats. The best part of the day was witnessing the smiles and joy shared across generations. Special thanks to all the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to ensure everything ran smoothly. It was a truly spooktacular day filled with joy and laughter. We look forward to hosting many more community events like this.

The Wallace Collection

Residents across our services had a lovely time joining Emily and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to Reubens' Rainbow Landscape.

Residents truly enjoyed the sensory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings.

Everyone who joined had a wonderful experience and can’t wait to put their creative skills to the test by painting some landscapes of our their in the coming days!

Enjoying lunch at The Salutation Hotel

Yesterday was a truly memorable day for our residents at Ochil Care Home as they embarked on a delightful outing to The Salutation Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality and historic charm of the hotel set the perfect tone for the day.

Our residents were treated to a very tasty lunch, enjoying the delicious food in an atmosphere steeped in history and elegance. The beautifully preserved interiors of The Salutation Hotel offered a fascinating backdrop for our visit, and the residents relished exploring the various rooms and hallways. It was wonderful to see them sharing stories and reminiscing over a hearty meal. The laughter and camaraderie filled the air, creating a day that was not just enjoyable but truly special.

A huge thank you to the staff at The Salutation Hotel for their exceptional service and for making our visit so enjoyable. The residents absolutely loved their time there and are already looking forward to our next adventure. Days like these, filled with great food, wonderful company, and cherished memories, are what make life at Ochil Care Home so vibrant and fulfilling.

Outing to St John's Kirk and the new Perth Museum

Recently, some of our residents enjoyed a delightful day visiting St John's Kirk, where we had the pleasure of taking a tour of Perth's historic church. The beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere made the visit truly special. To our pleasant surprise, we discovered that this church held fond memories for one of our residents, as her sister got married there! This personal connection added an extra layer of nostalgia and joy to our tour.

Following our visit to St John's Kirk, we ventured to the new Perth Museum. Our residents were captivated by the fascinating exhibits and interactive displays, thoroughly enjoying every moment spent exploring the museum's treasures. The trip was a fantastic blend of history, personal memories, and cultural enrichment. It was heart-warming to see the residents' faces light up with curiosity and excitement. Days like these highlight the vibrant and fulfilling experiences our residents have at Ochil Care Home. We look forward to many more adventures together!

A memorable visit from St. Johnstone Football Club

This afternoon, we had the pleasure of hosting Ross Sinclair and Benjamin Kimpioka from St. Johnstone Football Club at Ochil Care Home. Our residents, who are die-hard supporters, were thrilled to meet the footballers in person. One of our ladies, Jane, even serenaded them with a heartfelt rendition of "Oh When the Saints Go Marching In."

The footballers were fantastic, spending time chatting with our residents, signing autographs, and posing for photographs with both residents and staff. Our talented Kitchen Assistant, Findlay, went above and beyond by baking delicious St. Johnstone-themed cupcakes that were a big hit with everyone.

Afterwards, we all enjoyed tea, coffee, biscuits, and cakes together before the footballers left. They also made a special effort to visit some of our units where residents who couldn't come out were made to feel very special too. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with joy, excitement, and cherished memories for everyone involved. A huge thank you to Ross, Benjamin, and everyone who helped make this visit so special.
