Activities at Orchard House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Colouring Therapy

On Monday 21st May, we had a lovely afternoon relaxing whilst colouring in, which can help with a number of emotional and mental health issues.

For many, boredom, lack of structure, and stress are the greatest triggers they have. This applies to individuals with obsessive-compulsive disorders, anxiety disorders, stress disorders, depressive disorders, eating and binge eating disorders, anger management issues, and substance abuse issues.

The time and focus that adult coloring takes helps really help them to remain focused on the positive in a safe a productive way.

Royal Wedding Celebrations

On Saturday 19th May, Orchard House had a party to celebrate the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan. We all watched the wedding on a big screen whilst enjoying some bubbly along with wedding cake and nibbles for all. At the end of the party, we all went out to the front of the building to take a picture of us all holding our flags that we celebrated the day with.

,

Musical Magic

On Friday 18th May, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon with Anna, who voluntarily comes to play the organ for us. As you can see from the pictures, the residents have really appeared to enjoy themselves. Anna comes along to the Orchards every 2 weeks to play for everyone.

Snoezelen

Snoezelen

Every Thursday, we enjoyed a lovely visit from aromatherapist, Becky, who hosts Snoezelen sessions with calming music and stimulating lighting. Residents were given the opportunity to have aromatherapy treatments and get their nails painted. Becky also visited residents in their room, if they wished.

,

Pub Visit

On Wednesday 16th May, we enjoyed a trip to the Fighting Cocks pub. The gents were really looking forward to having a cold beer whilst relaxing in the garden. We all enjoyed a refreshing drink and some nibbles whilst reminiscing about past memories.

Royal Wedding Preparations

On Tuesday 15th May, we got together in a group to make royal wedding flags for the royal wedding, which we will all be watching. The residents enjoyed making them whilst sharing stories and memories with each other about the royal family.
