Activities at Overslade House Care Home
Our activities team is dedicated to organising a variety of events and activities and adapting them to suit the capabilities of those we support. Our goal is to improve quality of life by providing activities that are tailored to residents' own interests.
At Overslade House, we encourage local people and businesses to participate, as well as our staff and relatives, in order to keep them involved as part of a wider community. We strive to enhance the quality of both mental and physical stimulation through weekly minibus excursions, PAT dogs, quizzes, Zumba classes, arm chair line dancing, musical entertainers, pamper sessions and much more.
We definitely have something for everyone!
Julie Bateman
Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Lead here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. We are always open to new ideas, if you'd like to contact me please call the home on 01788 522577 or email me direct on overslade.activities@barchester.com - New entertainers always welcome.

Happy 100th Birthday
We celebrated with Joan her 100th birthday, this day was even more special as very recently Joan beat COVID-19. So the day was filled with happiness with skype calls from family in Bristol and Australia singing and wishing her a very happy birthday.
It was also made special with her daughter and family members coming to the home to sing her happy birthday with a huge specially made banner, which Joan enjoyed while standing at her window.
After lunch Joan enjoyed birthday cake and trifle and read all her cards including a special one from the Queen.
Happy 100th birthday Joan from all of us at Overslade House!
VE Day Celebrations
"We may allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing.” – a quote from Sir Winston Churchill on 8th May 1945, and that is exactly what our residents did to commemorate 75 years since VE Day. A garden party was enjoyed by our residents, with music being played from the era a buffet lunch and plenty of memories being shared – and all in the lovely sunshine. Happy moments in uncertain times.!
Donated Face Shields
Our home manager; Violeta and staff at Overslade House Care Home in Rugby were so pleased to receive a delivery of these precious face shields following a nomination received by DDS Concept and Prototype Ltd. The family run 3D printing company are making and donating free PPE visors to local community frontline staff.
We send personal thanks to Paul, Andre and the team for providing us with such a special gift and wish them continued success in raising funds to produce many more for others within the community.
Easter Egg Surprise
The staff at Overslade House received an 'eggstra special' delivery on Easter Sunday. A stack of chocolate eggs donated to the staff from a previous nursing colleague who now works at Rugby's St Cross Hospital. Her son, who remains an active volunteer kindly delivered them to make us all smile. Thank you so much.
St Patrick's Day Celebrations
St Patrick's Day was a fun packed sea of green within Overslade House. The residents enjoyed making bread and butter pudding in the morning and in the afternoon the drinks trolley wondered round the home delivering a selection of beverages including Guinness and Irish baileys. Irish songs played all around the home and our cinema afternoon featured 'Lord of the dance'.
Libby Entertains
The singing entertainer 'Libby' set the room alive with music and songs for the enjoyment of all our lovely residents. Several joined in on the tambourine while others just listened while taking a trip down memory lane.
