Activities at Overslade House Care Home
Our activities team is dedicated to organising a variety of events and activities and adapting them to suit the capabilities of those we support. Our goal is to improve quality of life by providing activities that are tailored to residents' own interests.
At Overslade House, we encourage local people and businesses to participate, as well as our staff and relatives, in order to keep them involved as part of a wider community. We strive to enhance the quality of both mental and physical stimulation through weekly minibus excursions, PAT dogs, quizzes, Zumba classes, arm chair line dancing, musical entertainers, pamper sessions and much more.
We definitely have something for everyone!
Julie Bateman
Hi, my name is Julie, and I'm the lead Activities Lead here at Overslade House. I've been an entertainer for over 25 years which has given me a great foundation for meeting people from various backgrounds, and has also helped nurture my social skills.
I love animals, and have two Dachshunds of my own who, like me, love meeting new people. I'm looking forward to bringing them in to meeting all our lovely residents here at Overslade.
I'm a bit of a social butterfly and enjoy visiting National Trust locations, attending the Theatre, singing and dining out. Over the years I've even been an 'extra' on TV!
Living life to the full is my motto, and I wish to instil this in all our residents, whatever your ability there is something new to learn or try. Life is for enriching and enjoyment. I look forward to getting to know you and your loved ones. We are always open to new ideas, if you'd like to contact me please call the home on 01788 522577 or email me direct on overslade.activities@barchester.com - New entertainers always welcome.

Life at Overslade House Care Home
Memorial For The Fallen
Our residents, staff and relatives have created this unique memorial and are paying their tributes to the fallen in the war. It is being displayed in the reception area for everyone to see. Residents chose to spend time making hundreds of poppies for their display, which they felt was a perfect way to mark their respect.
A little known fact that our residents chose to include, is that the purple poppies represent all of the horses that died in the war.
Fireworks Display
It was all smiles as residents and their loved ones enjoyed a lovely firework display in the gardens of Overslade House, whilst in the comfort and safety of the warmth.
Resident Ambassador
Welcome to Overslade! House. My name is Ann Fletcher. I feel honoured to have been made Ambassador for all our lovely residents. I initially came to Overlade for 2 weeks respite care following an operation in July 2018. I have never looked back and have stayed permanently ever since. What a wonderful home, with great food, daily entertainment and activities. Wish I’d only come here sooner. I look forward to greeting some friendly new faces soon. Cheerio for now, I better get back to my movie on Netflix.
Animal Magic
Residents loved the inter-generational animal magic day at Overslade House. Animals included; 2 skinny Pigs, Owl, Tarantula, Snakes, Rabbits, Tortoises and, Guinea pigs. So something for everyone to enjoy. Join us when John the animal man returns in March 2020
Trick Or Treat?
All the staff and residents dressed up for Halloween which began with a trip to the local pub, then residents made spooky sweetie hands to give out to the visiting children followed by an evening of snacks, entertainment and disco laid on by the local school children. It was a day of more treats than tricks!
Pumpkin Carving & Painting
Great Halloween fun as our residents chose to paint pumpkins for our none scary magical Halloween fun. Whilst others chose to carve a more traditional pumpkin.
