Activities at Oxford Beaumont Care Community

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events that cater to all tastes, which includes minibus outings to nearby places of interest and visits from animal trusts, local school choirs, musicians and entertainers. We also undertake one-to-one activities for residents who are unable to participate in group sessions, and encourage loved ones to join in whenever they can.

Alice and Sarah

Activities Team

Hi, I'm Alice (left) and I've been working in activities since 2019. I absolutely love my role, and I'm passionate about providing meaningful and life enriching activities for all our residents. My aim is to make them smile everyday!

Hi I’m Sarah (right), I’ve been a member if the Oxford Beaumont team since January 2020. Starting as an Activities assistant on a part time basis, I enjoyed the role so much I'm now one the the full time coordinators.

It’s an absolute pleasure working here, being able to provide life enriching activities that make our residents happy and smile. We have so much fun together, and learn something new everyday from these incredible ladies and gentlemen.

Making links with local groups and organisations to ensure our residents remain part of the local community is a key part of the activities team role, if you would like to make contact with me or my colleague Sarah, please feel free to call us on 01865 730990 or drop us an email OxfordBeaumont.Activities@barchester.com

Life at Oxford Beaumont Care Community

, , ,

Mad Science Day

Activities staff dressed as scientists and carried out some safe but fun experiments with residents. Everyone was fascinated by a home-made lava lamp, fireworks in a glass, storm in a jug, a moving stick man picture, milk and soap colour mixing, and marbled printing.

Southerndown in Wonderland

We welcomed the fantastic team at Southerndown Care Home to our Alice in Wonderland Zoom tea party on 1st April as part of their fundraising cyclethon. It was lovely to see residents there and to chat to them.

Comic Relief

For Comic Relief, staff proved they were superheroes by dressing up and entertaining residents with a joke competition, laughter yoga, and a classic comedy marathon on the television. Graham and Janet said it was great to see the staff dressed up and wanted to make sure they got into the spirit of things with their own masks.

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year, residents enjoyed a special cream tea, followed by an afternoon of musical memories. Extra video calls were available and residents were visited by designated family members in their rooms, or in our specially designed visiting pod.

World Panda Day

For World Panda Day, the activities team at Oxford Beaumont arranged for a giant panda to be adopted through the World Wildlife Fund on behalf of Oxford Beaumont.

Residents enjoyed reading about pandas in the wild, but were horrified to learn that there are only approximately 1860 giant pandas living in the wild, in only 33 groups (18 of which have fewer than 10 members).

They watched some serious and some not so serious videos and our little friend made himself at home in the bamboo in the garden.

History Club

Our Activities Coordinator, Paula, gave a talk about Alan Turing as it is LGBT History month, and some residents joined our sister home, Chacombe Park, for a talk from the National Motor museum via Zoom.

Both talks led to some great conversations and reminiscence. The History Club is one of the regular interest clubs—some weekly or fortnightly, and some monthly—that residents are able to attend here at Oxford Beaumont.
