Activities at Oxford Beaumont Care Community

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events that cater to all tastes, which includes minibus outings to nearby places of interest and visits from animal trusts, local school choirs, musicians and entertainers. We also undertake one-to-one activities for residents who are unable to participate in group sessions, and encourage loved ones to join in whenever they can.

Life at Oxford Beaumont Care Community

Rock Painting

Rock art goes back thousands of years and as it’s one of the most ancient forms of artistic expression we thought we would give it a go!

We had lots of fun experimenting with different coloured paints, textures and patterns. It was a great afternoon bringing residents and friends together for a fun and therapeutic art session!

Movies Day!

A day at the movies consisted of film trivia, fancy dress, snacks and live music from Richard Stark. Richard entertained residents and loves ones with a wide range of songs from all their favourite films! The selection of songs varied from The Jungle Book, James Bond, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and much much more! It was great to see so many singing along and tapping their feet to the familiar tunes… we can’t wait for the next performance from Richard!

Celebrations and Joy!

Residents enjoyed a day of two celebrations! One was Diwali and the other was our wonderful deputy manager sreeja who got married in India, to celebrate the wonderful occasions we hosted a party with delicious tasty food inspired by India cuisines and refreshments to all the residents, families and staff in the activity room.

Afterwards the manager did a presentation speech to the newlywed with a lovely hamper full of gifts from the home, all the residents said they thoroughly enjoyed celebrating this special time with all of us and the food was amazing and the outfits wore by some of the staff looked so elegant and very smart.

Honouring Remembrance Sunday

On remembrance Sunday residents wrote some wonderful poems to recollection and reminiscence the fallen soldiers of WW1 and WW2 and discuss what the day means to us all in honouring them

One resident called Annette told us she helped out in the navy in her younger days as a wren and carried cargo to the massive navy ship by paddling a little boat of the shores and how exciting it felt to know she was helping out her duties. It’s wonderful to listen to pastime memories the residents share with the staff.

Remember Remember the 5th of November!

On a cold afternoon in the homes garden residents enjoyed creating some sparkling fun! We displayed a wonderful performance of light in the air and watched them spiralling around. Afterwards the residents enjoyed delicious hot chocolate with marshmallows in the activity room plus a quiz to test their knowledge! We reminisced our times with the families watching firework displays and in lots of different locations even aboard as one resident told us about, it’s great to listen to so many stories and places of travel that we can share together.

Fun at the Fair

Whilst the funfair was in town residents, staff and families had a fantastic trip out into Abingdon for the Uk’s longest street fair!

It was great fun absorbing the lively atmosphere and admiring the variety of stalls and rides. Many of the residents even won some prizes on hook a duck and the darts stall!
