Activities at Pentland View Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Sandra's Trip to the Library

Sandra is a very keen reader and also was a loyal and frequent visitor to our local library. In fact, when we went in she was delighted to be greeted by name by the librarian and everyone was very happy to see her. She very much enjoyed perusing the shelves and carefully picked out some books by her favourite authors. We then decided to extend our trip out and went to get a cuppa and have a blether about our favourite books and authors. She is looking forward to going out again to exchange them for some new titles, and this will be a regular outing for her. She’ll never go so long without a trip to the library again, that’s for sure!

A Trip for Fish and Chips

George is always talking about how much he loves his fish and chips. As such, we hopped in to the mini bus one afternoon to have a lunch out at one of the local restaurants. George was delighted with his fish and chips, locally caught here in Scrabster, and also with a wee walk around the precinct to see what has changed.

Longer walks outside

Many residents have expressed their desire to get out and about for longer walks. This time is spent enjoying the brisk sea air, looking out over the North sea at the various local landmarks and boats, and talking about everything and nothing. These walks are especially good at the moment, while we are having our WOW makeover and things can get loud and claustrophobic inside. Everyone returns feeling good and like the world has been put to rights. Margaret, especially, enjoys these outings and looks forward to many more.

National Read A Book Day

We spent the day reading various types of printed media, from the residents’ favourite Remembering Caithness books to reading the short story Lamb to the Slaughter aloud. Residents also gathered in the garden for a cuppa and a read of their books.

Roald Dahl Day

Residents, staff and guests celebrated the treasured author with a Chocolate Factory themed day. All residents received their own Wonka Bar, complete with golden ticket as they entered the lounge, which had been transformed in to our own version of the beloved chocolate factory. Sweets and treats were on offer from the Oompa Loompas who also visited all of the rooms), and we watched the classic favourite Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Inside Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
