Activities at Pentland View Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Caithness Animal Farm Visit

Residents are always delighted to see the people and animals from the animal park turn up for a visit! This month we enjoyed cuddles with a tiny 5 week old guinea pig named Ginge, as well as with his larger counterparts. There were also tortoises, bunnies and a fan favourite Sid the Snake! Residents, staff and visitors all enjoyed their time with the lovely menagerie.

A fond farewell after 30-years

We recently celebrated the retirement of the homes long serving General Manager, Morag who has been a integral member of the homes team for the last 30-years and will be missed by the team, residents, families and friends.

We hosted a ‘tipsy tea’ party and we wish her well as she enjoys some well deserved rest and relaxation in her retirement! Lots of love and best wishes from the residents and staff and your well deserved retirement.

Molly’s 90th Birthday

Molly recently celebrated her 90th birthday in style! After getting all glammed up she headed to the lounge to open her presents and celebrate with her fellow residents. Afterwards she very much enjoyed a slice of her lovely birthday cake! To top off  day of celebrating all things Molly, she enjoyed the visit from the Caithness animal Farm and even held a snake!!

Zumba with Steph

We are now doing Zumba sessions with local instructor, Steph, on the first Wednesday of every month. The session is seated, but as you can see sometimes the music just takes you away in the moment and residents enjoy a good boogie! There is much laughter as we move, shake and groove along to familiar and upbeat tunes such as La Bamba and the Macarena! Afterwards, everyone is so happy and often the dancing continues on after Steph has left!

Trip to the museum

A trip to local museum and café: Residents enjoyed a mini bus trip to the North Coast Visitor’s Centre and museum. Here, they enjoyed learning about local history spanning from the Picts all the way up through the Dounreay exhibits. Of particular interest were stones from the Viking era and farming artefacts, as well as the recreation of a Dounreay work station. They even stopped to learn some about the local flora and fauna and donned hats that suited the theme! After enjoying all that the museum had to offer, they6 then walked across the street to Rosie’s Café where they enjoyed a cuppa and tasty cake along with good banter and chat.

Bowls -v- Seaview

We have recently found ourselves taking a trip to Sea View for games of bowls against the residents in our sister home. On our visit there, Team Pentland won the day! In return, Sea View paid us a visit the following week and we enjoyed more games of bowls, with the teams mixed between the homes.

It was great fun and especially enjoyed as some of our residents have been keen bowlers over the years! We look forward to continuing our friendly rivalry with Sea View with future visits back and forth, and hopefully extending to do far more activities together with our friends in the future!
