Activities at Rivermead Care Home
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered programme of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends. The home also has its very own minibus for our numerous outings for coffee and shopping, which residents love.

Hi, My name is Nicola and I am the activity coordinator for Rivermead. I plan and deliver a range of interactive and stimulating activities throughout the week for all the residents.
We focus our planning through person centred care, meaning the activities we deliver are tailored to each of the residents individual choice and interests.
It’s a very rewarding job role to be in, seeing the residents enjoy their lives to the best of their abilities and enhancing their experiences, building and maintaining friendships and supporting their wellbeing.

Life at Rivermead Care Home
Crafty Colour sessions
Our lovely Alex and Bernie spent the morning on Westow today doing an ever so popular exercise class which the ladies lovely joining in with.
This afternoon they ventured over to Malton unit and spent some time with the residents doing some colouring which is always popular and reading some magazines with some residents who like to keep in touch with their careers
Celebrating Charlottes 100th Birthday!
Today at Rivermead we celebrated a very special birthday. Our lovely resident Charlotte turned 100 today and she looks absolutely wonderful!
She celebrated with family and friends around her and all the staff joined in to help her celebrate this absolutely wonderful phenomenal milestone!!

PAT Dog Visit
Rivermead Care Home in Malton, was full of animal cuddles this week when the therapy dog Bruno the Labrador came to visit the home.
Residents at were pleasantly surprised to see the chocolate Labrador in the home and roaming around their garden as he performed tricks such as ‘spin’, ‘rollover’ and the Residents favourite 'sit' and 'laydown' so they could stroke his lovely velvet ears.
Bruno makes his way to each resident offering company, cuddles and cuteness.
A Day trip to Helmsley
We took full advantage of a beautiful afternoon and went for a visit to Helmsley for some lunch and ice cream and enjoyed a scenic drive around the beautiful countryside we are so fortunate to live in!
We had a lovely day and the residents hard such big smiles on their faces!
Museum’s Star Exhibit
On Thursday 20th April at 2.30pm across our services we will join Meredith More, Curator at V&A Dundee, for an exciting tour of one of museum’s star exhibits, The Oak Room; an original tearoom interior designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1907/08, which is on long-term loan from the collections at Glasgow City Council. Its conservation and restoration was made possible through a collaboration between Glasgow Museums, V&A Dundee and Dundee City Council.
We will learn about the history of the room, its social context and the process of restoration that brought it back to life in 2018, having not been seen in public for almost 50 years.

Grand National Party
Today at Rivermead, we celebrated the grand National in style!
We started the day making bunting, colouring photos of what we hoped would be our winning horses, taking part in the sweepstake and preparing the prizes for our winning residents!
We enjoyed prosecco and bitter shandy’s and lots of snacks whilst watching the race and the residents were in high spirits hoping their horse wins!
