Activities at Scarborough Hall Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Scarborough Hall Care Home

Easter at Scarborough Hall

During Easter weekend on the Sunday the activity team hosted an Easter themed dining experience where residents and family members were invited to get together to share a meal over our beautifully decorated dining table. We used craft items created in the weeks leading up to the event to make our event extra special. We enjoyed being together listening to relaxing music and reminiscing over Easter’s gone by. Resident Krystyna and activity member Jess pose for a photo together to remember the day.

Easter Egg hunt with Local Baby & Toddler Group

This month for our intergenerational baby and toddler group the activity team hosted an Easter Egg hunt in the garden, team members, residents family members, friends and members of the community convened together in our garden for our annual Easter Egg hunt, other activities during the session included a colouring competition, lots of themed snacks and refreshments followed by the children completing the Easter Egg hunt. The older children helped the babies to find some chocolatey treats and the residents loved watching the children playing together. The children get together with activity member Jess for a photo opportunity.

Having a cuddle with a baby lamb

The activity team were delighted to welcome back Rachel from The Purple Pig Company to the home for the Easter themed bottle fed baby lamb experience. Resident Sheila Deere is pictured with Rachel and Willow the baby lamb, Sheila was over whelmed with the opportunity to be able to have a cuddle. Rachel also brought her baby chickens and ducks which were a delightful addition to the afternoons festivities.

An Amzing VR Experience

Activity member Beth enjoyed an interactive virtual reality session with resident John who has recently come to stay with us at the home, John’s wife was very interested and excited at the technological opportunity’s available to John when we showed the couple round on our open Day. John’s wife told us all about how he used to be an avid sailor which she detailed for us in his Getting to Know Me Booklet. John thoroughly enjoyed his session and remarked that ‘he truly felt as though he was at one with the waves’.

St. Patrick's Day

Here at Scarborough Hall we love to celebrate St Patricks Day, we had a themed quiz in the morning followed by a musical performance by our local Humanbee’s Ukulele Band in the afternoon, we then reminisced of St Patricks Days in years gone by whilst sharing some ice cold Guinness. Residents Anne Kay and Frank Burns pose for a photo opportunity with team members who chose to dress up in green themed clothes for the day.

It's all leek to me!

Celebrations were under way at Barchester’s Scarborough Hall care home, in Scarborough, as residents and staff marked St. David’s Day.

The home was in high spirits as they celebrated the national day of Wales with a welsh themed a daffodil themed gardening and craft club, followed by a welsh themed Harpist performance by the fabulous John Dalton, team members also enjoyed dressing up in yellow. In honour of the traditional feast day and the country’s patron saint, residents and staff were treated to traditional Welsh food and drink.  Everyone tucked in to welsh cakes, rarebit, crempogs, leek cawl, bara brith and laverbread washed down with a nip of Penderyn whisky/welsh beer or cider.
