Activities at Seaview House Care Home
Our Activities Coordinators are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are exercise classes and a walking group, regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest including local concerts, as well as weekly visits from a PAT dog, and regular visits from musicians and entertainers, as well as church services which are held twice a month. We also host a weekly social event in which we encourage residents from the whole home to socialise together.
Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Seaview is fun and active.
Mandy Wilson
Mandy has worked for Barchester since 1998. At first as a carer and then in 2004 as the activities coordinator for Seaview. She is passionate about helping people who live at Seaview get the very best out of their day and actively promotes the resident’s monthly committee.

Life at Seaview House Care Home
A trip out
Residents took advantage of the mild weather to enjoy a trip out on the homes mini bus taking in the sights of the countryside before returning for a refreshing cup of tea and a slice of home-made cake. George said “I enjoyed my wee trip out”.
Armistice Day
Seaview commemorated the signing of the Armistice Day agreement on the day that the guns finally fell silent. They joined the rest of the United Kingdom in holding a two-minute silence at the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day, of the eleventh month.
As well as marking Armistice Day by wearing poppies and observing the national two minute silence, residents took part in therapeutic activities creating making poppy displays and listening to old wartime songs.
Meet the team
We would like to introduce to you, Elaine Edwards and Zoe Rothera. After having committed themselves to further education they have recently qualified as Care Practitioners taking on more senior roles. More recently they have both been promoted to team leaders and we would all like to wish them the best of luck in their new roles. Well done from all of us at Seaview!
It's the little things!
It’s the Little Things! Here at Seaview we celebrated National Hug a Bear Day. So who better to pay a visit to our home was - Winnie the Pooh - who did his rounds in throughout the home, it was beautiful to see what a hug can do for you.
Blooming Haus
We were delighted to join Blooming Haus’s Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass, where Master Florist, Michal and his business partner - Michael showed us the best method to create beautiful festive wreaths.
Following the tips and ideas learnt during the amazing virtual experience, we were happy to put our skills to a test and to enter the #BarchesterChristmasWreaths competition.
We all had a wonderful time creating our festive wreath/s.
Thank you @bloominghaus for helping our residents flow into the true spirit of Noel.
English National Ballet
We celebrated Remembrance Day with English National Ballet Associate Dance Artist, Richard Bermange, who led a creative dance workshop for our residents followed by a special extract of Akram Khan’s work Dust, premiered in 2014 as part of ENB’s Lest We Forget programme, commemorating the First World War.
ENB company dancers, Erina Takahashi and James Streeter performed the extract and provided some insight into this moving work.
Our residents had a wonderful time as they listened, danced and were able to singalong to famous war time music performed by ENB Associate Musician, Matt Hartley-Stevens.
