Activities at Sherwood Court Care Home
Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Sherwood Court Care Home
Doll Therapy
Here at Sherwood Court, residents Pam and Gillian have been engaging in doll therapy. The pair was besotted by the dollies and took up role as their carer's with ease.
Having a doll or toy animal to focus on at this time of day may ease feelings of distress and insecurity. Caring for a doll or soft toy can also give people with dementia a renewed sense of purpose and help them connect them with the outside world.
Lifelong friends
Here at Sherwood Court, resident Pat went on a shopping trip to the local Asda with activities coordinator Hayley, to collect free flowers kindly donated to us from the community champion Debbie. Upon browsing the isles, a lady shouted hello Pat, to Pats surprise, her childhood neighbour Beryl was stood there with a huge grin. Pat and Beryl had become dear lifelong friends and it was beautiful to see the pair reunited. The smiles on their faces say it all.
What a lovely way to start the day.
Red Nose Day 2024
Here at Sherwood Court, staff and residents have been having such a laugh through wearing red noses! Activities Coordinator Hayley, took up role of ensuring residents had some fun pulling silly faces with the red noses, to help raise awareness to end the cycle of child poverty.
What a funny day had by all, and here is Resident Bill show casing his red nose after he stopped laughing.
Holy Communion
Here at Sherwood Court this morning, residents from our Memory Lane unit and Nursing unit, had a visit from a member of the St Clare’s Church; Michael. Michael visits us every two weeks to deliver Holy Communion to our Catholic residents whether it be individual room visits or small communal areas.
It is important that we keep their faith to them as it provides comfort when in need, brings moments of joy and happiness and also keeps residents connected with the church community.
Person centred activity
Here at Sherwood Court, we have had the best morning with resident Gregg! As Gregg is on a peg he finds it hard to engage with activities. The one thing he asked for was to go out to his old favourite barbers were he used to get his hair cut.
This morning, Hayley surprised him by booking a taxi and booking him a slot at the barbers. He was absolutely made up and thoroughly enjoyed the morning of being pampered... even a nasal wax.
Gregg is very much looking forward to his next appointment.
Happy Mother's Day
Here at Sherwood Court, residents from our nursing unit have had the best day for mother's Day, and simply well deserved. our special ladies received gifts from all the staff here from the home, and they also received gift bags full of goodies from Ribbleton Avenue Methodist Junior School who we have a strong connection with.
After spending time with relatives, our ladies sat down for an evening tea party with a glass of fizz. Lovely day enjoyed by all.
